Just getting into this tracking system and upgraded the system and I cannot find my tracker or anything right now. I spent a lot of money to track a vehicle to which I can't track. So I would give this and you guys and your systems a zero. There's other systems out there working way better than yours for cheaper.

The service plans are a rip off. At first you pay an 'activation' fee (EUR 30). Then you have to choose between annual or monthly plan (EUR 15). The latter is called 'Flex plan'. But the Flex plan comes with a annual 'Flex Charge' (EUR 34). This flex charge is compulsary so you can activate and de-activate your 'flex plan' without new activation fee. So if you want to use your Spot one month a year (eg on your summer holidays), you pay the equivalent of THREE months. If you end the Flex plan you pay the Flex Charge anyway, so you pay the EUR 34 for not using. And all prices are excluding tax! So one month costs you almost EUR 100.

Too bad I cannot provide a -1 star. Purchased a Spot X for use on a sailboat in the Bahamas. The device was less than useful. It had extreme dificulty acquiring GPS signals and could not keep them. Even from the boat's deck. Impossible from inside the cockpit and even less chance from inside the cabin. No messages can be sent (e.g.; SOS, update, text, etc) unless there is a GPS connection. The boat had a Garmin chartplotter. Time to acquire signal... 10 seconds. I also had an Apple iPhone and iPad with me... <10 seconds to acquire GPS location. And that was from inside the cabin. We had 2 cold fronts come through with winds in excess of 25kts and seas 6-10'. On deck, in the middle of the night, holding onto the safety railing with one hand and holding the Spot X up into the sky hoping for a GPS location was not my idea of a useful product. If we were in trouble, no SOS message would have been sent. Additionally, the interface is from the early 1990s. Horrible. No backlight to see what you are doing at night. Limited functionality. Buttons were stiff and many times didn't work. And that is a brand new unit. Returned it and went to cancel subscription. Not possible. I now have a subscription for a device I do not own. That provides no value. For another 11+ months. I would not and cannot recommend this Spot device. I would not trust it to send location updates much less actually send an SOS. Perhaps it works on a mountain top somewhere, but as a personal locator on a boat.... WORTHLESS!

Device not great. Received item from Battlbox and have been unable to cancel, they say no matter what I have to pay service fees for a year. I will likely drop my current credit card so they can't continue to siphon money from me for a service I don't use.

Not a great product, terrible customer support. The person on the other end was google translating, and had no clue what she was doing. No tech knowledge what so ever. Stay clear.

This is the most unreliable GPS tracking system ive ever tried to use. Spot 4 would not acquire SAT's after over 10 attempts. Test sequence failed every time. Instructions on printed docs unfollowable as well as online. Very unclear and incomplete. If this device and support from spot is inept from the very beginning how can it be trusted with your LIFE in the field. Customer support person was very rude and her feelings hurt by stating this product sucks without a doubt. My prior experience is with MIL DAGR, and several other products that ive used in the past. Wanted to upgrade and thought this system was up to par. IT IS NOT! UNRELIABLE-Jen O'connell - do a better job with this company!
