Warning! I will start by saying I purchased a Spot Trace to keep an eye on a boat, the system worked very well, however, if you want to stop service you can't do it online, you can signup online but if you go into their system to remove your card info it can't be done. They auto-renewed my account, 1st year $99 2nd year $106, then a HUGE jump to $165 then to $175 with no notice. When I called to find out what's going on with my account and to cancel service which I had tried to do online last year I was told I could cancel but wouldn't get a refund as I had already been billed! W-T-F! After going around with customer service and stating they have a shady business practice I was offered a $50 refund, I pushed back with a threat to dispute the charge with my credit card they offered my a prorated amount and refunded 10 months of service. Stay of top of the cost of service.

Dishonest Billing Practices. Horrible customer service that was confrontational and abusive. STAY AWAY.

I have a Spot Gen3 that worked as advertised but it is the customer service that is terrible. I checked my bank this morning to find I had an autorenewal for 12 months. I called to cancel and was told I was sent an email in July telling me my account was up for renewal. I never received the email. The account renewed in August without any notice and they took the money 34 days after the account renewed. They stated you must notify them 30 days before the account renews to cancel and you cannot get a refund after 30 days of the renewal. A total scam. They did give me back $70 plus some tax. It is a shame it is such an unscrupulous company with its billing practices. I am quite sure their reviews would be better with better billing practices. Edit: Received an email stating I would receive a full refund. Waiting to see the money!

I was with the for two years and then cancelled as I was no longer going off-road alone. 7 months later I was taking a 1 week trip alone. So I called and asked if they offered less than an annual contract just for my trip. I was told the best they could do was monthly so I told them to activate me for the month then. I called at the end of the month to cancel and was told that they could cancel but I would be charged for the rest of the year. I explained that this is not what I asked for and there must be a mistake. Adam (a supervisor) basically called me a liar and said I talked to no-one there and they couldn't renew over the phone. He said I would have had to go online and renewed for the year. Why would I do that for a 1 week trip? And why would I have marked my calendar to call and cancel? Dishonest company and will not do business with again. Go with Garmin!!!

Dishonest company. Told them to cancel. Never did. Charge exorbitant fees.

Customer service is non existent. They had a sale, and I signed up with them again. They were all right the first time, but they are brain dead now. I've emailed and asked for support, they wanted my ESN and Customer Number, which I supplied. That's the last I heard from them. When the contract is up, I'm ditching this product because my safety is more important than their profits.

Friend of the family crashed her vehicle during winter in a remote rural area. Findmespot received the call and the receiving employee looked at a satellite map of the area. Seeing a few structures nearby, they determined (on their own) that it was a false alarm and didn't investigate any further, notify anyone, or send help. This sort of situation could very easily turn from a simple accident into lethal territory for the victim if they depend on this "emergency" service in subzero temps and I have no faith in the training of their employees and can't recommend this company for their purported services. Luckily things turned out eventually with no help from Spot. Please show you care about you or your employees lives, pick a reliable company and not these (for lack of a better word) amateurs. This person was using this service in an area that SPOT purportedly covers, and yet could have died in this situation. SPOT needs a class action lawsuit against them.

I bought this device last December and they were running a 50% off promotional rebate. I submitted the rebate form, the receipt, and all needed documents. Never heard back from them. Inquired and was told that I had to provide them with the ESN. I did that. Then I had to provide them with the name of the store I bought from. Then I was asked to provide them with the receipt, which I sent to them 5 months ago. Then they told me they won't give me a rebate. This is a BOGUS deal, and they have sham customer service.After 5 months and many communications with them, they just respond with sorry, we won't give you a rebate??? I won't be going with this company ever again!!
