I was long-term policyholder..
I was long-term policyholder with Farmers Insurance for years. I finally decided to switch providers because I found a competitor (Ergo Next) offering the exact same coverage for literally half the premium that Farmers was charging me. Instead of treating a departing long-term client with respect, the Farmers corporate machine showed its true colors during the cancellation process. For just 14 days of active coverage, their automated corporate system kept roughly $329 out of my $405 payment due to a predatory 'short-rate cancellation penalty.' Keeping that much money for two weeks of coverage is pure corporate greed. To make matters worse, while I was in the middle of a busy workday, I was hit with an urgent phone call demanding that I owed them even more money ir it would hit my credit and go to collections. At that point, my original $405 payment hadn't even been fully accounted for or returned, creating massive, unnecessary stress. The corporate billing system was so fundamentally broken and confusing that even the agent's office couldn't track it correctly at first and the more questions i asked, the more question THEY asked. Hours later after disputing with billing, looking at bank statememts, and sending screenshots of payments made, they notify me an admission that their demand for more money was a complete error and I owed a $0 balance. If you are a long-term client, know that Farmers has zero loyalty to you. Their rates are drastically overpriced compared to the modern market, and their corporate billing system is an incompetent mess that will hit you with massive penalties and false payment demands the second you try to leave. Avoid this corporate umbrella and take your business elsewhere.
