Subscription model hobbles product
The PVT is an interesting device. It’s a little awkward to use — to see the green and red bars you have to carefully position it at just the right angle and hold steady. But still, an interesting technology. I’d rate it a 4 or 5. However, the device is hobbled by their subscription model. You can only see your Eyeglass Numbers as they evolve w/ later tests. You get no access to any individual test, no ability to delete previous data, no way to start over. And, a subscription is limited to a single person. Say you’d like to know if your vision changes during times of the day? Nope. You get the numbers they determine with their algorithm. Which is ok, but that’s it. Why do they hobble like this? Guess. If they didn’t you could let friend or family members give it a try and get their numbers without a subscription! Must not allow. What to do? And that’s the other issue. No one else can use it w/out buying a $5 subscription, providing an email address, creating a password etc. It’s a hobbled device. The company is in control of the device you purchased, not you. I’d rather pay extra for the device and be able to create profiles for others, manage the data and so on. Just another company that doesn’t understand pleasing the customer.
