VisionCheck™ is Awesome!
I've needed glasses for quite some time now (nearsighted) but I've never gone in for an eye exam. Partly due to the fact that I have a serious fear of things touching or being near my eyes. Like, I can't even use eyedrops so having someone strap a machine to my head and mess with my eyes is an instant "nope" from me. For the most part, I can manage in my day to day activities as I've become familiar with the blurs and shapes of distant objects around my house. It wasn't until I had to renew my driver's license recently that I realized how bad it was. I did some research and at one point, even considered buying an entire eye exam kit with about 260+ lenses and testing tools (I know it would've been much cheaper and easier to just go in for an exam but again, phobia)... then I came across EyeQue and their VisionCheck™ product. I LOVE new technologies and when I saw this little thing that you could hook up to your phone to check your vision and even order glasses with the results, I was instantly impressed! I placed and order and waited eagerly for my delivery. When I finally received my product, I went to download the app that compliments the device and proceeded to register my product. That part was honestly the most frustrating and difficult part of the entire process. The website claims the app is compatible with the iPhone SE (the phone I have) but when I tried to use the app, I couldn't get passed a certain screen because the button I needed to click was offscreen and it wouldn't allow me to scroll or pan to get to it. Turns out newer iPhone models have a zoom accessibility setting that you need to turn off for the app to work properly, and that setting was missing on my phone. So It was zoomed in by default with no way for me to zoom out. I managed to borrow an iPhone 11 from a family member and reinstalled the app there, which worked as expected. I was a little hesitant at first but after doing my first test and seeing how simple it was, I was thoroughly pleased with the device. I ran a few more tests and got my eyeglass numbers. I returned to the EyeQue website to order some "Try-On Glasses". I didn't have to plug my numbers in or anything, it already knew what my numbers were from my account. I placed my order and 1-2 weeks later, I got my first pair of glasses and promptly tried them on. THE DIFFERENCE THEY MADE WAS INCREDIBLE! You know those Claritin allergy commercials where everything is blurry but then they take Claritin and everything becomes "Claritin Clear"? It was like that but in real life. I could read the nutritional facts on a box of cereal across the kitchen. Trees were no longer blurry smudges of green and brown. I learned that my ceiling had a fine texture to it that I never noticed before. It was like seeing everything for the first time. I think I had a stupid grin on my face for the rest of the night. It was just amazing. So far, my favorite part about wearing glasses isn't the clarity I now have, it's the ability to push them up my nose with my finger and look like a smarty pants! Welp, I'm off to look at some nice frames online, and maybe some prescription sunglasses too! Thanks EyeQue, now I only have to squint my eyes when I give someone the side eye!
