A Taste of Cuba
My experience in Cuba was wonderful. It began with Espriritu sending a detailed itinerary that included a balanced mix of guided tours and exploratory/free time. In addition, we received information on 1) what to do to prepare for the trip, 2) cell phone use in Cuba, 3) how to be a responsible tourist and 4) what to pack. Once we arrived, exchanged our money and got settled in the paladares, our guided tour began. The size and composition of our group presented particular challenges that our guide, Oscar, handled with patience, tactfulness and grace. We were exposed to the rich history and culture as well as the ubiquitous music vibrancy of Cuba. For Americans, I would suggest that washcloths be added to the packing list as neither of the paladares had them. Our only negative experience occurred when we stopped for lunch on the road to Cienfuegos. After waiting an inordinately long time to be served (some who came after us were served before us), the food was just okay to inedible. It is not an experience any of us wanted to repeat. Overall, I had a wonderful time and highly recommend Espiritu.

Hi Sharon, Lovely to read to read your comments and that you had a wonderful experience in Cuba! One of your traveling companions left a review and comment about the lunch so I will explain it also here. The restaurant that you stopped at to eat on Wednesday was experiencing an intermittent blackout which Oscar was unaware of when you arrived to the restaurant. Meals usually include one non-alcoholic drink but due to the wait, your group was permitted to order any drinks that you wanted due to the excessive wait time. In addition, Carlos our manager in Cuba, personally visited your group at dinner in Trinidad to give you two nice bottles of Spanish wine as a gesture of goodwill for the bad service at lunch. I also wanted to explain to potential travelers who read your review that the size of your group was 8 people because it was a private group. our regularly scheduled small group trips are never more than 6 people.
