Email on Acid (EOA) is great for testing, but could use some tweaks.
Email on Acid (EOA) is a great way to preflight your emails on multiple devices. I used EOA at my previous employment to help troubleshoot the coding of email designs created by myself and the UX team in support of company marketing efforts. The ability to see how emails will probably display in so many viewports is extremely helpful in planning layouts, and in understanding the challenges faced by end-users, even highlighting ADA compliance issues. My only grumble about EOA is I did not see any data/statistics on how many people actually used and/or viewed email on specific devices or viewports. They provide display examples for so many devices and viewports it can be a bit overwhelming. If one device/viewport is only used by a small percentage of your audience, that makes it an edge-case, and thus it could be decided not to worry about whether that particular device/viewport is worth sweating over. If EOA were to provide easily referenced data on device and viewport usage statistics, that would help inform decisions as to how to better customize the testing experience.
