A month to resolve their own shipping error.
A month to resolve their own shipping error – extremely poor customer service I’ve been a long-standing Corsair customer and have spent a considerable amount on Corsair and Elgato products over the years. A friend used to jokingly call me “the Corsair kid”, which probably gives some indication of how much of their kit I’ve bought. Unfortunately, this experience has seriously changed my opinion of the company. I ordered a Stream Deck+ in a published sale for £135 from the Elgato UK store. The order was invoiced by Corsair Components Ltd and included UK VAT. UPS subsequently demanded a further £45.84, consisting of £31.49 import VAT and £14.35 brokerage charges, before they would deliver it. Corsair eventually acknowledged that this resulted from an error on their side with UPS and that the charges should never have been passed to me. I first raised the problem on 16 September. Their initial solution was that I should pay the £45.84 myself and then claim it back from Corsair afterwards. I declined. I had already paid the advertised price including VAT and saw no reason why I should finance the correction of their shipping error. I refused the delivery and asked for it to be returned. The parcel then spent weeks cycling between UPS warehouse scans and failed Access Point delivery attempts because the import fees remained unpaid. I even contacted UPS myself and asked them to return it to sender, yet the cycle continued. Throughout all of this, Corsair’s communication was painfully slow. Replies regularly took several days and many of them amounted to little more than holding responses. Meanwhile, Corsair still had my £135 and I had neither the product nor a refund. I eventually asked for the matter to be escalated. A Technical Support Lead joined the correspondence, said the case had been reviewed and that “feedback” had been passed on, but offered no meaningful explanation of what that review had concluded. The practical handling was simply passed back to the original support agent. I was then told my refund would be issued when Corsair physically received the parcel back. This was particularly frustrating because I had never received or taken possession of the goods, Corsair had already accepted responsibility for the shipping error, and the outstanding return was entirely between Corsair and its chosen carrier. Only after I challenged that did Corsair finally refund the £135 on 15 October, almost a month after I first raised the issue. I wasn’t asking for compensation or freebies. I simply wanted Corsair to take ownership of its mistake, return my money within a reasonable period and explain what had gone wrong. As a final point, I specifically asked the Technical Support Lead whether, having reviewed the case, he considered the handling and timescale acceptable. More than 48 hours later, he has chosen not to answer. The refund means I am no longer financially out of pocket, but that is an extremely low bar for customer service. The whole experience was unnecessarily drawn out, communication was glacial, and ownership of the problem was poor from beginning to end. After years of buying Corsair products, this is the first experience that has genuinely made me think twice about buying from them again.

I'm sorry to hear that your recent ordering experience has not met expectations. Is it possible to share some additional details of your case with Support, like the ticket number, so that I might be able to look into this further for you?
