Not an eco friendly product
ECOS paints come in plastic, rather than metal, cans. They are shipped in boxes with foam and plastic packaging material. I very disappointed, as I was looking for environmentally friendly products.

I had a difficult time picking out color with the small sample pictures online; but after finally picking out color, it was much darker then the sample one I chose online. Also, had to use two coats (original walls were off white) instead of one coat stated that should be needed. This paint if very expensive, especially to be unhappy with the color. I will not be ordering from this online company for these reasons.

I hate leaving this mixed review as I like this company, their philosophy, their products, their people and the fact that they subsidize the shipping costs. My interior job required a small amount of stain and a larger amount of varnish. So I bought every color of stain in the sample sizes and also a gallon of the satin varnish. As a person with chemical sensitivities (MCS), I still can't believe that that their stain and varnish did not affect me at all. Any odor was the slightest (and I mean slightest) smell that reminded me of something nutty. But as far as any reactions to the product, I had none. Their stain is a dream and spread/blended perfectly with my existing woodwork. However, the varnish was a different story. The painters ended up applying 4 coats and the finished product is really nice except for the AWFUL brush marks. The can is labeled in capital letters "DO NOT THIN". So the painters did not thin and followed the instructions to the letter with a brand new quality synthetic brush, tried to keep a wet edge, etc. The first coat was done on a dry day and there were brush marks everywhere. They sanded and did another coat, which was the same. The next day we called the company and that's when we were told that it's best to apply this product on a humid day and to also thin the product around 10%. So they added just a little bit under 10% water and did the 3rd and 4th coats on a very humid day and the result was the same...brush marks everywhere. Just for the heck of it with one of the doors, we sanded it again and used a foam brush for the 4th coat and in spite of that, you could still see the brush marks plus foam brush marks. This product dries so fast that there is really no time to work with it. What I am most upset with is the vertical wood wall (back of the cabinets) in my kitchen where all you see is brush marks in every single light angle. I now have phone calls into some local high end tradesmen to get some suggestions as to what to do. I have a feeling that we might have to sand everything down to bare wood and start from scratch. If that is the case, then I will probably have to consider using a competing no-voc product as I cannot imagine using this varnish again. But will have to wait and see what the experts have to say. The stain is 5 stars across the board and I give the varnish 5 stars for no voc/odors with 2 stars for product performance.

I put this review off for months in hopes the company would stand behind its product and do the right thing by correcting a mistake, but since that has not happened, I want to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. I have ordered several gallons of wall, trim, and floor paint along with a few quarts of bird cage paint. The company donated two quarts of bird cage paint to our rescue, which was another reason I wanted to hold off with a review. The trim paint was excellent, as was the wall paint. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Then, there is the floor paint... I ordered two colors of floor paint to paint a diamond pattern on over 1000 square feet of sanded down pine flooring. I primed and painted one area, then realizing the paint was self-priming, I just painted the remaining rooms. At least 4 coats were painted and allowed to cure. Almost immediately, the floors began to stain. Just walking across them with Georgia clay on your shoes resulted in stains that would not come up with mopping, using a magic eraser, or even adding hydrogen peroxide. I had to start sanding and repainting spots all over the place. It didn't take long for the paint to wash away to the bare floor! I contacted the company several times and was greeted with a "it must be your fault" attitude. I sent photos and each excuse presented was dissolved with facts. The only thing that makes sense is that whoever pulled the gallons to tint them pulled wall paint cans instead of floor paint cans. It would certainly be a simple mistake since I was ordering wall paint at the same time, and the cans all look alike. It would also explain why the paint is washing off the floors. Out of curiosity, I painted a square of the other color which were clearly labeled 'Floor Paint', and even without curing, it has stood up to traffic and washing. This further proves there is something wrong with the 6+ gallons of base color already used. I don't have the cans anymore to prove this, but it is the only explanation that makes sense. I received an offer of 2 free gallons as a gesture of goodwill, which is kind, but it is going to take a lot more than 2 gallons to completely redo the floor. This is a parrot rescue, so we need to use bird safe paint, which is what drew me to the company in the first place. The worst part is that we don't have a kitchen because the cabinets cannot go in until the floors are finished. The floors cannot be finished until the company replaces the paint that was clearly not floor paint. Try feeding 83 parrots without a kitchen for going on 5 months. The paint is quality paint, but please read the can prior to using it just to be sure you are painting with the product that is fitting for that surface. If you don't, you will be left with a mess to fix at your own expense, just as we are. Shameful.

We were told it would cover up marker and crayon. We did 3 coats and the marker is still showing through.

For some reason your white eggshell paint took 4 coats on walls in an apartment i was renovating!

I ordered a semi gloss white paint for furniture and the paint dried matte on the bare wood. I did three coats and I could not get it to a semi gloss. I don't know what happen.

like their colors & they ship in well contained boxes--the paint itself is very disappointing--it doesn't cover well, , our painters were very unhappy with it- -we are in the rental business so we paint a lot--would not buy again
