BUYER BEWARE! Use Clare or AFM Safecoat! I have used Ecos Paints for several years with no issues in two houses with various applications. I ordered a white paint and a sherwin Williams color match to succulent green. The color match was beautiful, but the paint was horrific. We had a cabinet maker who previously co-hosted an hgtv show build and paint two separate cabinets for us. The white cabinet turned out just fine. The green one was a disaster. Although it was semi-gloss it had a chalky texture and poor coverage. Then the fun began. Going back and forth over email with a customer service representative and the CEO about the application, conditions, dry time, etc. It all was the same as the white cabinet that turned out beautifully. They requested I send the paint back for testing. Shocker…it worked just fine for them, but after the poor customer service up to this point we weren’t surprised. A professional painter had to come in to fix the cabinets for us because they were scratching horribly with every touch. You could take a towel to the paint and wipe it up. He said it wasn’t an application issue but too much pigment in the paint making it dry. It was like a chalkboard paint, not a semi-gloss at all. So after spending a couple thousand with Ecos over the years, never complaining or having an issue, they refuse to refund my $300 worth of paint. I didn’t ask for a refund on the primer, I didn’t ask for help with labor costs since I got a faulty product, I didn’t ask for anything crazy. I will never use their product again because the customer service is horrific. Customer service is great when you’re on the initial side of buying, but fails you on the other side. You can see a similar pattern from their lower reviews. I’d use Clare of AFM Safecoat instead. Don’t expect a dime of your money back if their product doesn’t perform. They will deny and blame others. Edit: filed a claim w/BBB and they continue to deny. They claimed they offered to send me replacement paint, but I declined. They NEVER offered this and I have proof through emails. Curious what lie is next. Please don’t buy their products! Look at google reviews!

This was my second order of Ecos Paint. The first was fine. I ordered paint for my entire house, brand new walls and plaster. After applying the paint, the paint and plaster started peeling off the walls. The plaster and walls were ruined. Reached out to Ecos about this they sent me a survey of 25 questions (basically to place blame ) and offered me no help, no new paint, no refund. Had a few contractors look at it and they said the paint likely froze in transit. Cost to me $4000 in plaster, $1500 in paint. Not even an apology from Ecos. The worst paint experience ever. I also found out it does have VOC's in the paint. After using the paint the walls continued to peel over all the walls and ceiling. NOT small discreet areas. Taking random quotes from me early on is still the worst customer service, because there was no remedy provided from them. I had to find out from another paint manufacturer how to fix this. In my business I always try to make it right for my customer. Ecos did not do this. I offered to send them samples of the failed paint and they just wanted pics and a video. Buyer beware. There was still no help and no remedy.

I bought Ecos Interior Gloss Clear Varnish and I followed all the instructions. The product looked really good at the beginning. It dried fast, made no odors at all, and it covered more than expected. I was very happy with the initial result. However, after 72 hours (as recommended) I moved the furniture back in. One wheel of a dolly left a mark on the floor. It did not seem to be a scratch so I contacted them to ask if I could buff it or what would have been the best way to fix it. I got no response. We have a 9 lbs dog and after a week you could start seeing little scratches. Now it has been about two weeks and the little scratches are all over the floor. I suspect that the product is not hard enough and in a year I will have to refinish the floors again. The fact that is glossy makes it even worse. If I would have known this in advance I would have chosen maybe a matte or definitely a different brand.

I bought some purple paint that won’t mix, you can see really dark purple and pink swirls in the paint no matter how long I mix. I emailed them right away when I found the problem. Then my wife called. Then I emailed again and chatted on their site. They are blaming this is needing a primer on the wall. (Which I did, you can see the primer over the tape in the corners but it doesn’t matter because primer didn’t fix the various shades I had on the wall, pink to dark dark purple) so....now I get to waste all kinds of time filing complaints just to get my money back....which I definitely will.

I ordered a sample to see if I wanted the product for a larger project. The sample arrived in a box several times its size and with two non recyclable and non biodegradable pads of styrofoam. When I contacted support to ask why an eco friendly company was using toxic and environmentally unfriendly materials, I was told that was how they shipped things. If you are looking for a company committed to helping the environment, skip this green washing company.

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! They will not let you review their individual products (you have to be invited by their customer service to leave a review, just buying the product does not qualify), all the product reviews on the website are curated and manipulated. DO NOT BUY FROM ECOS! If you have a simple drywall job with eggshell paint then ECOS is a fine option. However, if you are buying their "semi-gloss" then look elsewhere as it has only eggshell or at best satin level of sheen. Additionally, it will not apply to a surface that already has semi-gloss, will have limited sheen and will be streaky. Their support says any semi-gloss surface has to be sanded prior to application. Unless you plan on sanding all your trim and doors to apply a lackluster semi-gloss then look elsewhere. Plenty of other zero VOC companies that have a functional semi-gloss. Their semi-gloss is borderline a scam because of how poor the sheen and the needed prep. Recommend for simple drywall in eggshell but DO NOT use for trim, doors, or any semi-gloss jobs. Please also only expect very poor customer service. Update based on their response. I had also tested on prepped surface under ridiculous recommendations, and no semi-gloss sheen was achieved. Not a single other paint company says you need to sand semi-gloss trim before painting. They also said there are thousands of reviews, however you cannot review unless you are invited by customer service rep. I purchased and cannot leave a product review along with many others, they will reply to your review here but not let you review on their website. The company must be engaged in fraud, and I will be reporting to credit card company. The scam saga continues... The company is actually legally Imperial Paints LLC and says that on the box they send. Probably decided to change the name to capitalize on the eco market by scamming people into buying non-environmentally safe paint.

The varnish I ordered worked great, but the wood stain was incredibly blotchy and uneven and we had to sand it off and use a different brand. When I contacted customer service, they were incredibly difficult to work with and just kept interrogating me about what process the professionals we hired(!) were using and claiming it couldn't have been their stain. I am still trying to get a refund for my item. UPDATE as a response to the inaccurate comment from ECOS: You can clearly see the company trying to blame the application for their poor product. As I told the product specialist in our exchange, a 3" brush was NOT used and the buffing was done after the stain had already been applied to try to get it off once they realized that the stain was not applying evenly. BEWARE this company - the only reviews allowed on their website are those that their product managers solicit (no link to leave a review and I was told I would need to be contacted by a product manager to leave one) and NO customer service when their products fail. I was really excited to support a company offering non-VOC, safer stain options but now I wonder if that is even the case after my dealings with them. So disappointing.

I used the Ecos air purifying primer over Zinsser odor blocking primer to remove the smell of the Zinsser (which had been applied 5 weeks before the Ecos was applied). Ecos did not work at all to seal in or transform the odor of the Zinsser. When I contacted Ecos customer support, they did not stand by the product in any way shape or form. They really couldn't care less. At least Zinsser returned my money for the product. I have been painting for nearly 50 years. Ecos support and product were quite poor. this is unfortunate as I have a lot of chemically sensitive customers.
