e bay as bad as TOPHATTER you be the judge? I purchased items from amazingdirect gave them negative feed backs they deserve and e bay took them all off now here is a company with all most 300 negative feed backs. in there ads they all say US stock and that is a lie everything comes from china. so they lie and scam and e bay still takes - feed back off so some one in customer service is getting paid off well.

I like eBay as buyer- as a Seller there’s good & bad
I like eBay. It’s a great platform to buy and sell. Recently I’ve started selling less But maybe buying more.
I don’t like changes they have made to sellers/listings this year. (See further below)
As a buyer, I like that I can buy it now instead of waiting on auctions.
As a seller, I love that I can list multiple quantities- you can’t do this on Mercari, only eBay & Poshmark.
I also like global shipping as a buyer & seller- ebay has an excellent process for buying & selling very easily internationally which is exclusive to ebay as far as I know. The competition just can’t compete here. This opens the door to tons of opportunity for more sales for the sellers & buyers looking for hard to find items have a better shot of finding what they are looking for.
Changes that need improvement:
ie: - ebay payment processor instead of PayPal ...Just isn’t the same. As a seller it was nice when people paid to get the $ straight to my PayPal account. I could then use the funds they paid for shipping to pay to ship their item. Now I wait on funds so shipping costs are out of my pocket. A prepaid option like Mercari or Poshmark would be awesome. That’s one reason I started selling on other platforms.
-No referral credits on eBay. Mercari gives me a link to invite people, we both get $10- when people on Poshmark use my referral code, which is my closet name, ABSTRACTHANGER - We both get a credit. it’s a nice bonus that eBay doesn’t offer. Both you/your referral get a credit that makes it worth while. The platform gets a new user, helping everyone, and You feel appreciated. It’s the little things.
-one more big change ebay made- if you have a listing and you promoted it , it no longer shows up in both the promoted section and the organic search results. They decided which to show, meaning if they only show the promoted listing & it gets bought- you owe eBay more $$ in fees. What if the person wanted your item and would’ve bought either way? The people collecting the fee determine whether the listing with the fee or without the fee is shown to potential buyers?
* (Full disclosure, I could just opt out of promoting my listings, but I haven’t at this point - I think it helps me sell more although I’m not sure)
I will continue to buy on eBay - I’m happy as a buyer. I refer people to the platform on a regular basis- mostly in conversation (check ebay... you should try to sell that on eBay, etc) As a seller, I still make sales and continue to list items, just not like I once did. I think ebay is working out some kinks but they are still a major player & I would support ebay over Amazon any day. I always check ebay first if it’s not something I need within 48 hours;-)

Ebay supports the seller and not the buyer! Tried to cancel an order and the seller and Ebay said it already shipped when only a shipping label was created. One day later and the item showed up as shipped. Ebay protects the seller but not the buyer.

Ebay Turning A Blind Eye To Fraudulent Sellers
I am giving Ebay one star because of their lack of customer service and how they are obviously allowing fraudulent transactions to go on just to get their percentage from the sell. I buy hundreds of sports cards and memorabilia, at least in the past, from Ebay. Most recently I bought 36 autographed cards(Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Walter Payton, etc.) from a seller over about a six week period. Not a single card would pass a authentication by a 3rd party. In other words "fakes". I still haven't got all my money back and they are still allowing the seller to sell 30 or so fake autographs per week. Somehow the seller has a 100% seller rating on 4000 transactions. HOW? I purchased a autographed jersey from another seller who had pictures of one jersey displayed buy ships you a different jersey. I got a refund through Ebay but Ebay pulled my review because the seller gave me a refund. These are just 2 cases out of 20 plus similar experiences. The fraudulent sellers are penalized in no way. Only me with a loss of my time and if I get a refund I have to wait for it. If Ebay is not part of the solution then they are part of the problem. It is also hard to work a problem out when the majority of the customer service personnel are not even in the USA.

eBay has work for me for 10 plus years
Wow! I am so surprised about the negative reviews I read here about eBay. I decided to write my review to counter them with my positive review. I have been an eBay member since September 2008. My experience have been very good. I have saved money. Whenever I have difficulties I use the communication channels, and they support me. Even calling on the phone. I also have an additional layer of protection because they allow PayPal payments. My difficulties have been Chinese low cost products not arrived. Maybe these sellers are scammers. But I always receive my refunds and then take them time to rate both the good and the bad sellers. My record as buyer is squeaky clean, and have received many positive reviews from sellers. Not even one negative rating ever. I highly recommend eBay, but also recommend that you pay alway via an entity like PayPal. This will allow you to recover your money if some seller fails to deliver.

In 2017 a company from the US abused my eBay profile. I have one of their email addresses. They were my employer and they target people mostly from South-Eastern European countries, especially on Freelancer.com as "listers", presenting it as legitimate jobs. I didn't have anything to do with their decisions and I am from the EU. eBay refuses to investigate this case, refuses to punish the perpetrators responsible for issues with my account and refuses to clear my personal name. Otherwise the account could either be fully reinstated or at least my personal name cleared so I can open a new account as a buyer and seller. For three years now I haven't even had the possibility to buy anything on eBay which is insane because I've always had 5-star feedback as a buyer and haven't been selling any items, until my former employers started using my profile for selling.
