Hello James, Sorry to hear about your experience! Since the Apple fit test is designed to work with its stock tips, it may not be the greatest indicator for a good seal for any third party tips. If you haven't tried already, please squeeze the memory foam tips first before inserting them into your ears and allow them to fully expand to the shape of your ears. Then, insert them in your ears as deep as you're able to, and then allow the foam tips to fully expand to the shape of your ears to find the size that is able to create the maximum seal for your ears.
