Dear Ross: For your application on a bike, there is no finer ear plug in the world; but it needs correct preparation and insertion to perform at its best. This is too good an ear plug to not use. Please try our ear plug again and follow these instructions below: I too wear this exact ear plug under my helmet and this is not only the HIGHEST BLOCKING MOLDABLE EAR PLUG IN EXISTENCE, but it completely seals out the wind. To experience this exceptional blocking, you must follow these preparation and insertion directions (exactly): 1. Just as you are about to insert, take ONE ear plug and {work it or knead it}thoroughly between your fingers or hands for at least 25 seconds to make it soft, moldable and to disburse the Pure Lanolin throughout the ear plug. Pure Lanolin makes the ear plug slightly tacky so that it stays securely in the ear canal and seals it. When the ear plug is soft and moldable and ready to insert, it doesn't matter what shape it is; round, flat, long or narrow; just follow the next step. 2. Using the tip of your index finger, push FIRMLY & FLATTEN the ear plug IN and AGAINST your ear canal (until you feel a GOOD SEAL!) If it doesn't seal immediately, then hold your finger pressed against the ear plug (with slight pressure) for a few more seconds and it seal well. 3. Now take the other ear plug, prepare it the same way & insert it into the other ear. With both ear plugs inserted correctly & sealing the ear canals, you should notice a big improvement. 4. To Remove: Simply pinch the ear plug with your thumb & index finger and gently pull downward and out. Ross, please give this fine moldable ear plug, “A Fair Test”. Oh Elsje: To break off some of this fine moldble ear plug is very difficult to do. With over 6 million daily users world-wide, we never get a report of the ear plug breaking off; yet like spilling "hot coffee" on ourselves, if we are careless then I guess anything can happen. In the future, please be attentive when removing the ear plug. Thank you Mary-customer service and a nightly wearer for 10 years

Dear Audrey: I too wear this exact ear plug every night and this is the HIGHEST BLOCKING MOLDABLE EAR PLUG IN EXISTENCE, but to experience this exceptional blocking, you must follow these preparation and insertion directions (exactly): The VERY FIRST TIME that you are about to use our ear plug, you must work or knead the ear plug between your fingers or hands thoroughly for at least 25 seconds, to make it soft, moldable and to disburse the Pure Lanolin throughout the earplug. All later insertions will only require kneading the ear plug for just 10 seconds. SECONDLY! Many adults with smaller ear canals do not insert the whole ear plug; for just after they have kneaded the ear plug to make it soft and moldable, they pinch off at least (a third), and insert a smaller ear plug that fits their ear canal better, is more comfortable, seals easier and blocks out better. This can make a big difference, yet you do want to insert enough ear plug material to be able to block out well. 1.
