Dear Matt: Any slight blue residue of blue that you see the first time wearing will dissipate by the next wearing. Secondly, be sure to knead the ear plugs for 20 seconds just prior to insertion and then push 'firmly' in and against the ear opening (until you feel a good seal). Dear Jeni: This all natural, soft and moldable Beeswax earplug WILL NOT BLOCK OUT until you prepare and insert it CORRECTLY! I too, wear this exact ear plug every night & it is without a doubt, the HIGHEST BLOCKING MOLDABLE EAR PLUG IN EXISTENCE, but to experience the superior performance, you must follow these preparation and insertion directions (exactly, and you will see why all the testimonials on our website page are true and accurate. Note! Many WOMEN with smaller ear canals do not insert the whole ear plug; for just after they have kneaded the ear plug to make it soft and moldable, they pinch off at least (a third), and insert a smaller ear plug that fits their ear canal better, is more comfortable, seals easier and blocks out better. 1. Just as you are about to insert, take ONE ear plug and {work it or knead it} thoroughly between your fingers or hands for at least 25 seconds to make it soft, moldable and to disburse the Pure Lanolin throughout the ear plug. Pure Lanolin makes the ear plug slightly “tacky” so that it stays securely in the ear canal and seals it. When the ear plug is soft and moldable and ready to insert, it doesn't matter what shape it is; round, flat, long or narrow; just follow the next step. If you are going to pinch off to make a smaller ear plug, then now is the time. 2. Using the tip of your index finger, push FIRMLY & FLATTEN the ear plug IN and AGAINST your ear canal (until you feel a GOOD SEAL!) If it doesn't seal immediately, then hold your finger pressed against the ear plug (with slight pressure) for a few more seconds and it will seal well. 3. Now take the other ear plug, prepare it the same way & insert it into the other ear. With both ear plugs inserted correctly & sealing the ear canals, you’ll notice a big improvement. 4. To Remove: Simply pinch the ear plug with your thumb & index finger and gently pull downward and out.
