Dear Amanda: Our ultra-high blocking moldable ear plug WILL NOT BLOCK OUT well (UNTIL YOU PREPARE AND INSERT IT CORRECTLY)! Please follow the steps below for correctly (preparing & inserting) and you will see why almost all the testimonials on our website are SO POSITIVE, COMPLETELY TRUE AND ACCURATE. IMPORTANT! Many women with smaller ear canals do not insert the whole ear plug; for just after they have kneaded the ear plug to make it soft & moldable, they pinch off at least (a third), and insert a smaller ear plug that fits their ear canal better, is more comfortable, seals easier and blocks out better. 1. Just as you are about to insert, take ONE ear plug and {work it or knead it} thoroughly between your fingers or hands for at least 20 seconds to make it soft, moldable and to disburse the Pure Lanolin throughout the ear plug. Pure Lanolin makes the ear plug slightly “tacky” so that it stays securely in the ear canal and seals it. When the ear plug is soft and moldable and ready to insert, it doesn't matter what shape it is; round, flat, long or narrow; just follow the next step. If you are going to pinch off to make a smaller ear plug, then now is the time. 2. Using the tip of your index finger, push FIRMLY& FLATTEN the ear plug IN and AGAINST your ear canal (until you feel a GOOD SEAL!) If it doesn't seal immediately, then hold your finger pressed against the ear plug (with slight pressure) for a few more seconds and it will seal well. 3. Now take the other ear plug, prepare it the same way& insert it into the other ear. With both ear plugs inserted correctly & sealing the ear canals, you’ll notice a big improvement. 4. To Remove: Simply pinch the ear plug with your thumb & index finger and gently pull downward and out. Amanda, your satisfaction is our main goal. We are here for you! Dear Kathryn: I'm not sure what you did with it or how it got on your face. You were supposed to insert this all natural beeswax ear plug in your ear canal. It is so soft and moldable that from over 6 million customers, we have never heard that our ear plug ever caused an ache to anyone.
