Dear Jeffrey: The "crusty residue" experience is one that we have NEVER heard of before. Jeffrey, I have an idea; after taking a hot shower, take a soft tissue, wipe the inside of your ears thoroughly and then take 2 cotton tips; gently and carefully clean the inside of the ear canal, but do not go into it too deeply. Then before inserting our ear plug, take ONE ear plug at a time and (work or knead ) it well between your fingers or hands for 20 seconds to make it (soft, mouldable) and to disburse the pure Lanolin throughout the ear plug. Then perform the exact process with other ear plug. Insert them, wear them and you'll see that most likely there is NO residue at all. Jeffrey, keep me posted and let me know how that worked for you. Dear Linda: FOR YOU !!! THEY DIDN'T WORK?????????????? There are 2 possible reasons WHY our ear plugs did not " work at all" for YOU. 1. IF you didn't use the "whole" ear plug and inserted too small an ear plug to block out sound; or IF you didn't insert the ear plug (deep or firm) enough to SEAL your ear canals, then those issues would prevent the ear plug from blocking out. 2. Secondly, if he slept so close to your ear and was so incredibly loud; or if your hearing is (exceptionally) acute, then those issues could also account for the ear plugs not blocking out enough sound. Either way; Linda, regardless how wonderfully the ear plugs work for ourselves and the almost 5 million customers worldwide, we "stand behind" our customers who placed their trust in us and ordered our ear plugs; (( Your )) satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. For me and the many others who wear our ear plug (for the same reason) as you; it works PERFECTLY and blocks it ALL out; so I suggest that you either try once again insert them (( more securely )).
