Horrible company. I wanted to make interior changes and got a ticket to do so but ended up with a different sized book and that’s where the issue began. Train wreck.

It’s funny—turns out I’m not the only one who paid these scammers $20 for registration only to have my account deactivated right after...)) All in all, this outfit absolutely doesn't deserve an ounce of trust and shows zero respect for its clients. I sell my books on Amazon and decided to expand my market a bit. I successfully registered with this service and registered my book, but then it turned out I needed to pay a one-time $20 fee for the book to actually go on sale. The very moment I paid that $20, my account was permanently deactivated. I contacted support, and they claimed they don't work with Russia or certain other countries, which is why I was banned. The thing is, I don't live in Russia; I'm from Estonia (which is in the EU, by the way), and I had provided my Estonian address during registration and on the tax form. But support didn't even pay attention to that—it was just, "Sorry about that, but we won't be refunding the money"!)

From Smashwords to Draft2Digital: Welcome to 1984 We had a good experience with Smashwords, but since moving to Draft2Digital, publishing has turned into a nightmare. Customer service seems to operate with an authoritarian mindset, arbitrarily flagging accounts and books with little explanation or consistency. Worse, they misclassify our books and then blame us for supposedly publishing inappropriate content. Rather than supporting independent authors and publishers, Draft2Digital seems determined to police, restrict, and remove books based on questionable interpretations of its own rules. The whole experience feels like dealing with self-appointed censors who have forgotten that their business exists because of the authors and publishers they are supposed to serve. At this rate, one has to wonder whether their mission is to distribute books or burn them. Welcome to 1984.

*URGENT WARNING TO ALL AUTHORS: Stay away from this corrupt platform! ⛔* Draft2Digital does not respect authors; they practice blatant discrimination and outright theft. They banned my account and confiscated my hard-earned royalties purely based on my "national origin," completely ignoring my valid legal residency documents in Turkey, which clear me of the imaginary OFAC sanctions they use as an excuse. Their support team explicitly admitted in writing that they will withhold my funds even if I reside in a non-sanctioned country! This is not "legal compliance"; this is financial fraud and unlawful withholding of authors' money, executed by blind algorithms and an arrogant administration. Do not put your hard work at the mercy of a platform that steals your earnings and deletes your books with a single click without warning. Publish your work directly on Amazon KDP or Google Play. Protect your dignity and your financial rights from these thieves!

Shameful company! Theft under the guise of "setup fees" and direct violation of Mastercard/Visa rules.Текст отзыва:I am absolutely appalled by the predatory and discriminatory practices of Draft2Digital. I paid a $20 activation fee from a valid European bank account (Czech Republic). Immediately after taking my money, their automated system disabled my account without providing any services whatsoever, simply due to my nationality, completely ignoring my official European residence (EU residence permit). When I requested a refund for the services they voluntarily refused to provide, their support analyst (Anthony) flatly stated that they would not issue a refund, hiding behind their internal Terms of Service. This is a direct violation of international Mastercard/Visa merchant regulations and consumer protection laws. Charging a customer for a service, refusing to provide it, and then keeping the money is nothing short of financial fraud.I have already initiated a formal chargeback procedure through my European bank (ČSOB) to retrieve my funds forcefully. Authors, beware! Draft2Digital will happily take your money first, block you without explanation, and refuse to give it back. Avoid this platform at all costs and go directly to Amazon KDP instead. Horrible experience!

Even one star is too generous for this trash platform. With their ambiguous policies and the rudest customer service employees, it's not worth anyone's time. They will not ask for any documentation, never communicate the reason for deactivating your account, and will gladly scam you out of your royalties.

My experience with Draft2Digital has been profoundly disappointing, revealing a platform that relies on rigid, automated filters rather than supporting independent creators. When my legally registered, complex transmedia work encountered barriers, D2D’s response was not to offer editorial or technical guidance. There was no valid technical explanation or willingness to help—just censorship without reason behind closed doors, followed by representatives hiding behind convenient "sole discretion" clauses. A platform that handles creative works through a purely dogmatic, automated filter—while happily retaining fees for accounts it refuses to service—operates less like a partner for independent authors and more like a bureaucratic tollbooth. Realistically, given how this was handled, I can only look at myself as a forced donor who paid a fee for a service that was never rendered or utilized. Had your team possessed the basic editorial or technical competence to guide an author—perhaps pointing out a formatting nuance and encouraging a correct re-upload—that would have been professional and entirely acceptable. Instead, your approach has been rigid, defensive, and purely profit-driven. True company wealth lies in competent, empathetic staff who actually care about the client and the public, rather than cutting roles and defaulting to low professionalism and poor competence. If you are an independent author looking for genuine partnership, be warned: if you believe your work will be truly valued by this broker, prepare to be an unappreciated philanthropist and a donor without glory. Look elsewhere and protect your art. (Curious about the kind of work they chose to reject instead of understanding? Feel free to look up my transmedia saga, Sânge și Piatră (Blood & Stone), and judge for yourself what real artistic and narrative vision looks like). My last word to Sr. Anthony… Dear Anthony, Twenty dollars is a meager price indeed for a pair of spectacles. Yet they were all I needed to gaze upon your 1.3 rating on Trustpilot—a beacon that cuts through the dark, illuminating my eyes so I might proudly take my place among those restless souls bleeding beneath the guillotine of mindless automation and bureaucratic censorship. You chose the dawn, while I remain the night. But I still am.✍️
