I honestly don’t even know where to start, I feel like I could write a novel. I will try and keep this as short as I can.
Let’s start with the only positive- my dog made it to England alive, but even that wasn’t any thanks to Dog Gone Taxi. The whole process was unprofessional and extremely stressful. I started talking with Ashley (relocation assistant) about 3 months ago with the start of our plan. At that point we didn’t really know which country we would be flying into and were just trying to get an idea of prices to different locations. Every location request seemed like a burden, not a great start. There were emails I sent with questions that just simply got ignored or would take days to respond. The fact that they are dealing with people’s fur babies and that this isn’t exactly a cheap process, I expected the communication to be outstanding.
There was a lot that happened in between the beginning and end, but again that would turn into a novel so I’m skipping to the end.
Our boy has diabetes and I had made Ashley and everyone else I talked to aware of this fact from the very beginning. I would think this should be flagged on every single one of his records and made a top priority. My husband is already in England and we had made timing so that I would give our boy his insulin shot right before checking in and then my husband would give him one as soon as he landed. He would end up missing a dose, but we didn’t have much choice at that point. The day before departure I ended calling Rebeca, the manager, and got more information from her than I had in over 80 emails between Ashley and I. She even spotted a mistake where I was being overcharged.
So here we are the day of departure and I have gotten zero communication from Ashley in the past couple of days and zero information about how to pick him up on the other side. I email Rebeca asking what my husband has do on the other side and she gets back to me almost instantly, but informing me that customs clearing takes an additional 6-8 hrs after landing… At this point I am pure panic attack, there is no way our dog could go that long without his medication. Not once was I ever told he would have to wait that long. Rebeca gave me information to get a hold of ARC at the London airport to try and figure out what we can do.
Before I can even reach out to ARC, they emailed me! The manager on the other side reached out, introduced herself, and explained that she would oversee Remi’s clearing. I was in shock that I was getting better communication from the London airport than I was from Dog Gone Taxi. We called Sarah at ARC, and she had no clue he had diabetes and was glad we reached out because they would have fed him! Sarah was able to arrange for my husband to bring in the meds and a vet to administer the shot. I am still absolutely disgusted that it got to that point. If we hadn’t contacted ARC on our own our dog could have had a seizure or worse. I emailed Rebeca telling her about this and there was NO apology, nothing but a template response.
I understand companies are short-staffed and policies are always changing because of covid, but our experience wasn’t because of this. It was from incompetence and lack of communication. I’m not just telling my story for future customers, but also to the company in hopes they will find some better staff who actually care about what they are doing.

Hi Kristen I want to thank you for your review and I would like to apologize for your experience. We have retrained and hired more staff to ensure that miscommunications like this will never happen again. Thank you for choosing Dog Gone Taxi.

The incompetency of a lifetime
These people have been nothing but incompetent since the beginning of us working with them. I have never had such a lack of communication and transparency about the process. They messed up the dates that my dogs were supposed to travel and now my dogs are stranded in Germany with incorrect health records and are facing being shipped back to America when I’m leaving for Europe. Do not work with this company.
Response from DoggonetaxiMar 25, 2022
Hi Caressa, I am sorry to hear that your experience with us is less satisfactory. We have retrained our staff so miscommunications like this wont happen again. Thank you for choosing Dog Gone Taxi.

COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT
I wish I could give ZERO stars. This is the mostly grossly incompetent business I have ever dealt with.
My point of contact ("relocation assistant") throughout this experience was Ashley Duvall.
First, the quote was very unclear. I have 2 cats, and some items in the quote were priced per cat, while others were quoted as the total for both cats. It took weeks and many emails just to clarify the pricing, and I got different answers depending on which employee I spoke to. In the end, it turned out to be much cheaper than the competition, but you get what you pay for...
Once the quote was figured out, I was told I needed to buy bigger kennels because customs in Germany supposedly requires 3 inches of clearance. If this were true, I would have no problem with it. But Germany, like the rest of the world, uses the metric system and would NEVER set a standard like this using inches rather than centimeters. This was simply a number she made up to sell me bigger kennels. When I asked for clarification I received no response. The question was simply ignored.
Phone calls were repeatedly ignored. Emails took days to receive a response, were so full of spelling and grammar errors that I couldn't follow them, and typically did not address the questions I was asking.
At this point I was reluctant to proceed with the booking, but the price was so much better than the competition, so...
I decided to go ahead and book. I received an itinerary for 2 DOGS going to the UNITED KINGDOM. I have 2 cats that needed to go to Switzerland. I corrected this information and made it clear that I had major doubts about their competence... I would need some sort of assurance that they actually know what they are doing. I received no apology, no explanation, no semblance of a commitment to do better from that point forward.
What I received instead was a new itinerary, on the wrong date, with a FOUR DAY LAYOVER IN GERMANY.
I am cancelling my booking with this company. I don't have much money, but I'm more than happy to pay DOUBLE their rate to avoid doing business with them.
Response from DoggonetaxiOct 31, 2020
Hi James,
I'd like to address your concerns. I worked for Dog Gone Taxi last year and I've returned to help Rebeca for a bit as I transition back into the tech sector following a recent layoff. If nothing else, hopefully this will offer some insight.
QUOTES / RATES
I understand your frustration with changes being made and inquiries not being addressed immediately after a finalized quote was generated ~ that's a valid frustration. What you may not know about us is that we're well-known in the pet shipping industry due to our level of care and being able to offer those lower rates through the relationships we've built with airlines and connections the hospitality industry. Those rates get passed down to our clients and I'll bet we started receiving a lot of new business while also training and hiring new employees. I'm wondering if we had an uptick in incoming calls and quote demands during the time you were requesting our attention. If this is the case, feel free to call the office ~ I'm open to your suggestions on what could have been done differently to enable a better experience.
Also, quotes are estimates only. Prior to 2020 estimates and timelines did not have the monetary and scheduling variance they do now. There are so many moving parts due to COVID such as airline pricing, embargoes (Lufthansa just closed down all flights until Nov), vendors canceling, specific kennels not being in stock, delivery person availability, international and domestic border limitations / closures, airlines only allowing 5 pets per flight now (compared to 15+ prior).... For these reasons, we're grateful to our clients who understand this and are open to discussion during these times.
KENNELS
You're not wrong to be taken aback by the incremental changes in kennel sizing. Until I conducted my first delivery, I never would have believed measurements needed to be so myself - until I saw someone next to me in line who was turned away for their kennel being 1" too short even though the pet could stand up. Rest assured, our employees have nothing to gain by making up numbers or suggesting slightly larger kennels - the price we pay to purchase the kennel is the price listed on the quote (I used to create quotes). My guess here is that we may have had a newer employee who was being guided. Again, we appreciate the clients who understand learning curves, however, during COVID, many things related to business are amplified and logistics can change on a dime.
FLIGHTS
Some airlines changed their flight times and days due to budgeting constraints, COVID concerns or limited pat capacity in cargo space below (this can occur after quotes are generated). Ticket pricing can also change but this is less likely than the latter.
COMMUNICATION
I would like to discuss this with you by phone if you're open to it. Personally, I call clients 1-3 days prior to a delivery to explain what they can expect. I send texts and photos multiple times throughout the journey and start a group text early morning prior to departure on the first day where any of us looped in have the freedom to reach out 24/7. I've delivered 2 Great Danes and a cattle dog within the same delivery to London through Germany and France and you're right, regular communication is important. I'll look into why a 4 day layover was suggested but my guess is that it may be related to COVID and animal transmission. I've visited the Pet Lounge and built relationships with a few of the employees ~ they're great. I wish you had a better experience with us in that arena. Again, please reach out to me personally if you'd like to discuss.
Thanks James,

I would rate zero star if I can
I would rate zero star if I can. IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, I have never had any type of issues with any company this huge. Please avoid them. When I was transferred to this person called steph Bibb, we had a call arrangement. She was 10 minutes late to call me because she said she could not find my number. I should have known that she is definitely very disorganized, and I was right. Here are some of the reasons that I HIGHLY recommend you to NOT choose this company.
- Steph was incredibly hard to talk to. She will give you the most minimum information, with an extremely rude tone. She tends to avoid answering clearly to most of the questions, and as a listener, it sounds like she is just reading a script, and she knows absolute nothing.
- She never responds, it will usually take around 5 days or so to get an email from her. And trust me, you will never want this when you have your pet handled by them
- She is one of the rudest person I have ever spoken to. I don't know why but she has the most annoying attitude like I have did something bad to her. She does not answer my question with a kind attitude which is super annoying.
- I understand some of the process takes time, but she is literally doing the opposite way from what is written there on the regulation of the AQS office of Japan. And, she does not give freak about the regulation that is stated clearly on the document, she was just like" I do not know why they stated that way, but we should not do that."
In conclusion, worst experience with a company ever. They don't know what they are doing, and they have the worst attitude.
Response from DoggonetaxiOct 31, 2020
Hi April,
I returned to work for Dog Gone Taxi recently during my transition back into the tech sector. I'd like to jump in here to address your experience and highlight two variables which may have played a part in this outcome.
Stephanie, whom you mentioned, is very hard of hearing and was in the process of obtaining a new device to assist with incoming calls during a time when we encountered a huge surge in business including incoming calls related to COVID and newly implemented regulations (from airlines, international partners, hotels, new and preexisting clients with time-sensitive questions, etc).
We're considered front line workers due to our global pet logistics with Military, law enforcement and families required to move due to COVID layoffs. While I was not personally working for the company during this time, I was witnessing many businesses and clients reaching unfamiliar stress levels in the tech industry and knew it was occurring in all industries.
While new employees were being trained, Steph was the only one taking calls and creating quotes.
I know she had a lot on her plate and appreciated your patience, regardless of what you may have felt. I've seen a huge change since her hearing device update. We are known in the industry for our service and this should not have been your experience with us. Feel free to reach out to me personally if you'd like to discuss suggestions on ways we could improve going forward.
Regards,
Morgan (global deliveries)

Don't waste your money. Do it yourself. It's easy.
Read the regulations yourself. I was looking to have less stress on my hands but the stress started at first email follow up from them. I got confused because they sent me the wrong forms ! And the wrong information ! OMG ! Good thing I knew better and did my research prior to contacting them.
Its a waste of money. Not as hard as you think. Make time to get your pet health certificate and necessary rabies shots. It's time sensitive, that's all. Make extra time for transport just like any travel plans.
Update: After I posted this review, Now they have responded with a email with a an angry tone. I was honest about my review. Absolutely not worth it.
Response from DoggonetaxiJun 3, 2020
Olivia, we are very disappointed that you felt the need to immediately post a negative review based on an emailed quote. We would have been happy to provide you information about shipping your pet and answer your questions if you had given us an opportunity. We do try to give everyone lots of information in case they are able to ship the pets themselves.

Absolutely the worst service ever
Absolutely the worst service ever! I would not recommend this company to anyone. They have poor communication between employees. We had a pup leave on the 3rd of May from AR by another transport service who was absolutely amazing heading towards WA. Rebecca had received the puppy on the 10th which as planned to deliver the puppy across the border the next day. Well according to my knowledge their driver screwed up and told the border incorrect information thus the animals not crossing. It has been a constant struggle to find out what's going on and why it is they keep saying we don't have the proper information for her when it was sent prior to pup leaving on transport and was approved. There have not been any updated photos when asked only two photos have been received during the time she's been in their care which has been a month. The only thing the owner is getting a response to is "HE" is having behavioral issues with biting. They also have not asked what food she was eating therefore messing up her diet, she was in process of training and now has to start over again. Because of this mess the female puppy has missed her last vaccination and round of deworming. They have been allowing her on the direct ground even though stated she hasn't had all shots. Which she would have received it on the 11th as planned. They are paying for a new health check and last of shots needed. I did not find this company the owner of the puppy had but for me the breeder I am beyond pissed off and I do not appreciate when I called to talk to Rebecca she kept trying to interrupt me multiple times not letting me explain why I was calling and then rushed me off the phone and hung up.I understand things happen and due to the situation everything can be crazy but this is a business they need to act as such have better communication with employees and owners. Totally not worth the $452 the owner had to pay!!
ALSO: Stated on the webpage they do not do shared rides this is a LIE as they had 5 pups total on the day transporting our pup. Also states they give daily photos and text updates which is another LIE. There is so much confusion and now are asking the owner to place pup as a breeder dog??? This animal will not be bred but trained as a service animal.
REPLY BACK FROM TRANSPORT PERSON TO MY REVIEW:CORRECT I am not a client I am the breeder of the puppy your company is suppose to be transporting.Your company is putting total blame on the border and not taking responsibility it is your employee who initially screwed up.It now will be another month til owner receives puppy.I will happily provide the only 2 photographs of puppy received, and all screenshots to emails that this is supposed “hear say.”Only thing I cannot provide proof of is the phone call conversation.I just believe people have the right to know our experience as this is a business you have good and bad reviews.I hope that from this situation this company works hard to correct future mistakes like this.Yes the company offered to pay for additional expenses and did give full refund. But again not taking responsibility for employees actions on the 11th.Another note after the puppy was received by person fostering her she said the puppy was filthy and under weight.i will be getting a follow up as the person is a vet tech and qualified to exam her.Regardless of what Rebecca replies their are multiple people who are unhappy and refuse to use or recommend this company again.
UPDATE: This puppy got across the border today just walking across all same information originally provided plus new health check and last shot, with no help from this company
Response from DoggonetaxiMay 23, 2020
This person is not a client of ours and is reporting hearesay. Our company has no contact with this individual.
We were trying to cross the US/Canada border during a pandemic with a closed border. We are not responsible for border closures due to COVID19. Canada customs continues to change their requirements almost on a daily basis. All of our commercial import paperwork was properly filed. It was Canada customs that refused the puppies.
Our client has re-homed her puppy until the border reopens. Note we refunded OUR customer all the fees she paid us. Included non refundable customs clearing fees. We did not charge for boarding the puppy and had even offered to cover all needed additional vaccines, microchip and vet fees to try to get the puppy across the border.
Unfortunately Canada customs has not decided not to allow ANY pets to cross the border as of May 22. On our last attempt to cross the border into Canada they would not even look at 1 piece of paper and would not even allow us thru the border gate. It is a very sad situation for all the puppy and kitten owners who paid money to breeder to get a pet and the government of Canada is denying all entries.
Our service advertising private cross country is an exclusive service per family. Her statement is defamatory. This is not the service that her friend signed up for with just a customs clearing between US/Canada.

Sick cats and horrible communication! Awful experience.
***Update to reply to the company's reply (Original unchanged review below):
I feel the need to respond to the lies DGT has stated in their reply to this review: The timing was never the issue, as I understood that it was short notice and over a holiday weekend. I had no issues with the flight dates, or how quickly my cats were picked up. In fact I was very thankful for how quickly they worked to pick up my cats and get everything set, and that is probably the only thing I could say was done well. I also didn't mind setting up the vet appointment at all.
As for their health: I was informed by the (obviously worried) vet that they were quite underweight and that they needed blood tests to be sure that there was no issue with their kidneys. I'm not sure how this constitutes being in "excellent health". The caretaker told the vet that they had "barely eaten or drank anything" in the past few days, according to the vet. The vet herself told me that it seemed like they hadn't eaten at all, due to the amount of weight loss that happened in such a short amount of time. Granted I wasn't there, but I'm going to assume that the fact they were both underweight, when their weight had been fine just days previously, means that the veterinarian wasn't lying. No mention of wet food being given to my cats was told to the vet or to me (in fact, the vet even voiced mild concern that wet food hadn't been given yet as a way to get them to eat), and I specifically told the caretaker that we don't feed wet food, only dry food, when the cats were picked up. Wet food would have been my next move had I been told my cats weren't eating, but again, I wasn't told by DGT. While I was sent a few pictures, that doesn't mean they weren't consistently losing weight, or that DGT was communicating their actual health status to me.
In terms of communication, I left a message almost every time I called. I left messages on X's personal line multiple times (which she would sometimes reply to with an email), and multiple times left messages with other employees through the main line asking X to call me back. I also ALWAYS sent an email if I couldn't get through by phone. I never once said that I "didn't leave a message", because I left a message of some kind every time I tried to contact them. The entire conversation described in DGT's reply here is an absolute fabrication.
You didn't outright abuse or starve my cats (you'd be hearing from the police and my lawyer if you had, not from a review), however you did neglect to communicate to me properly about health issues that arose while they were in your care, and neglect to deal with health issues that arose while they were in your care. My cats arrived multiple pounds underweight after just a week in your care, and I WAS NOT INFORMED of the issues by you or your team, but by a VERY WORRIED VET. This constitutes neglect in my eyes, and can be very dangerous for any animal about to make an international trip, and especially an elderly animal (which one of my cats is).
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Absolutely horrible experience. I had multiple panic attacks because of their incompetence &, frankly, uncaring & rude attitude. In short, my pets got sick in their care & I was not told about it by them, I was consistently treated like I was inconveniencing them by asking basic questions, they were incredibly difficult to reach, & when my pets finally did arrive in Germany I spent HOURS trying to find out where to pick them up & how to get to them because of Dog Gone Taxi's incompetence & lack of communication. I'll expand on all of these below in detail.
I moved to Germany from the US & needed to ship my 2 cats. Dog Gone was to pick them up on Saturday, board them for a week, & they were to fly out on the following Sunday (arrive on Monday). I set up a vet appointment to get the necessary paperwork taken care of for Tuesday, which they would take them to. For reference, we had taken them to the vet 9 days before they were picked up by Dog Gone Taxi, & they were both in perfect health (one cat was about a pound overweight, but the other was perfect weight & both were healthy. This will come into play soon.). They were the same weight on Saturday morning before DGT picked them up. On Tuesday (middle of the night for me because I was already in Germany), I got a call from my vet because she was VERY concerned about my cats. Both were quite underweight, & the woman who was watching/taking care of them had mentioned that they had barely, if at all, eaten or drank anything since they were picked up (so 3 1/2 days). In case you weren't aware, even just a day or two of not eating can severely impact the health of a cat's system, specifically their kidneys. Kidney failure is a big concern now since they had gone so long without eating or drinking, especially since one of my cats is considered elderly. So I had to shell out another $90+ to get blood tests done & medication to stimulate their appetites. Now, I understand that this is a stressful situation, & sometimes cats will stop eating if they're stressed, but it is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE that no one at DGT contacted me about this issue! Had they contacted me, I would have authorized them trying different foods, maybe wet food, or tried to get them to the vet sooner for the appetite stimulant to prevent any lasting health issues. Instead, they didn't contact me, & just did nothing until the vet stepped in. Now I have two underweight & possibly very sick cats who might not be cleared for travel anymore, & an international flight for them in less than a week. Luckily, no thanks to DGT, both of their blood tests came back ok (though not great) & they were cleared to fly.
I don't think I've ever had this much of an issue with contacting a company before. Any time I called, if the woman in charge of our file wasn't available, apparently no one was able to look anything up for us or answer any questions. They would just tell us that they'd pass along our message to X & she'd give us a call back (which she rarely did). Any time I'd email her with questions, she would answer the first couple & just ignore the rest, almost as if she wasn't reading the rest of the email. Some questions were just repeatedly ignored, & since I could rarely get her on the phone, I was unable to get the information that I needed. Multiple times I was treated like I was severely inconveniencing them for asking questions, the answers to which I should have already been provided but never was. When my cat's flight was changed last minute due to a maintenance issue, I was sent an email stating the new flight times, nothing more. The day of the flight, I got a call from X, who was very upset at me for not confirming with the airline that I had been notified about the flight change. Apparently they were refusing to board the cats. NO WHERE in the email I had received was I told to verify anything. No one had even called me about the flight change, just the one email which, again, said NOTHING about verifying anything! I was treated as if I was completely incompetent for not knowing to verify it with the airline (which, btw, I had never been in contact with, we paid DGT to deal with flights completely), & that I was horribly inconveniencing them by not doing something I was never told to do. I told her to deal with it, as it was her job. The cats were boarded & took off for Germany. My questions on where/how to pick up the cats were repeatedly ignored, & when we did get to the airport we spent roughly 4 hours running all over the place trying to find them. Cherry on top, X was on vacation apparently, so no one could answer ANYTHING when I called! My cats were (& still are, we're working on helping them gain the weight back) worryingly underweight, & one had a decently sized scabbed cut on the top of her head (old enough that it did not happen on the plane, so it must have happened in their care...again, no one informed me of it).
If you love your pets, don't EVER use Dog Gone Taxi.
Response from DoggonetaxiJul 2, 2019
We are quite shocked at your review as we worked very quickly to move your cats very last minute over a holiday weekend.
The client first contacted us for a quote to ship her cats on May 22- Memorial day week. May 23 the client responded with her details needed for the booking. We had advised that her vet paperwork would all need to be re-done as we would not get a booking with such short notice. She was already having a panic attack as she had just found out her airline would not take her cats on her flight departing tomorrow.
We worked quickly over the Memorial Day weekend to collect her cats, and collect them for boarding on Saturday May 25. We had advised that her vet paperwork would all need to be re-done as we would not get a booking within 3 days due to Memorial Day weekend and short notice.
To characterize her cats as being sick and she was not informed would be incorrect. Her cats were never sick and she was informed by the vet at the exam that we they were only eating wet food.
The cats were in excellent health the entire time with us. We even took them to the vet for the international health exam and it’s noted by the vet to be in good health on May 28. The caretaker told the vet that they were not eating their dry food, so she gave them wet food. The vet did indeed call the client and verify that it was ok to give them appetite stimulant. The client was called by the vet and they agreed that was fine. I spoke to client on the phone and informed her they were doing well once they arrive to our Seattle office. We even sent her photos. – https://www.facebook.com/doggonetaxi/photos/a.488836104486473/2257222787647787/?type=3&theater

Client was sent an email on May 24 when flight was booked. Booking noted that the airline must hear from the customer for OK to forward in order to ship. This was completed. Then, unfortunately, on the scheduled date of departure the flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues. The flight was rebooked for June 2. It was on this rebooked flight that we had to call the customer to get new OK to forward to ship the pet as is required for all live animals. The kitties were checked in on June 02 and arrived safely.
In terms of communication with our office, I had no idea that she was trying to reach us as she never left a message. It was on May 29 that I spoke to the client and she expressed frustration that she wasn’t able to reach us by phone earlier, I asked if she left any messages and she said no. I reminded her that to avoid the phone tree system my email signature always has my direct line and 24 hour contact information.
We are glad you have your kitties and they are doing fine – I again want to stress that we did not make your cats sick, nor do anything to harm them. We, in fact, moved extremely quickly to get your cats moved last minute.
