Just didn’t seem to the the robust choices and low prices of past offerings. It was good, but not great. 4 stars

You are not wrong when you say that there are less choices these days. A lot of major magazine publications have shut down or consolidated. We wish it weren’t so, but unfortunately, it is and we try our best to add new publications. Please accept our apologies for the reduced choices now compared to years ago.

Thank you for your patience while you waited for that first issue. We're sorry it took about three months to get started, and we're glad it's arriving every month now. If a delivery ever goes wrong, email [email protected] and we'll look into it right away.

Tried cancelling a recurring subscription online, but received website "error" when I clicked the link (repeated attempts made over multiple days, different browsers, etc.). I tried calling, waited for an hour on hold and was cut off. I submitted an online help request, never returned. I tried to change/drop my credit card on file on their website: impossible to do. It turns out I had a couple of different logins for the business, and was using the wrong one. While the website could still use work with the errors and complete inability to edit billing details (or at least I can't find it) and seeming lack of functioning phone support, the company quickly responded after I raised this issue and refunded the charge. Recommend anyone using these subscription sites use disposable credit card numbers that can be turned off if necessary.

We're sorry to hear you had difficulty cancelling your recent renewal. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to help improve the process. As a small family-owned business, we provide many self-service options through your online account. Based on our records, it appears the login attempts were made using a different email address than the one associated with your account, which may have prevented you from accessing your account/orders. Our records also show that reminder emails were sent on May 24, 2026, June 16, 2026, and June 23, 2026. Each of these emails included the option to cancel your renewal order. For more information about DiscountLock, you may find this article helpful: https://help.discountmags.com/en_us/what-is-discountlock-rycRhv0Wc You can also find answers to many common questions in our FAQ section. At this time, we don't see any emails or online messages received from you. Could you let us know which email address you used to contact us? We do see one missed phone call from June 17 from a phone number ending in 2916. We're happy to confirm that your recent renewal has been cancelled and a full refund has been issued.

An update to previous review of discountmags. They made good and reinstated my subscription. Just be sure you are careful when on the website etc to make sure you’re not accidentally canceling something you didn’t mean to

******This is the followup to my original review. A human customer service agent responded to my emails. After some conversation they rectified the situation and I have access to my subscription. They also settled out to credit me my 3 months of lost issues by giving me a subscription to a decent magazine that was comparable in price. I will upgrade my initial 1 star, to a 4 star primarily because they did respond to feedback, and that deserves the credit. They do need to get rid or the auto responses when there is a problem. A human is much more effective in managing problems. ******This is a second edit to the review. I will note that I received the Economist code via Discount Mag. But I lost 3 months to the subscription and no return of the cost. I also received confirmation from Discount Mag and Economist (I think) will not auto renew the subscription. I also received a couple more robo-emails. In the end, this was a lot of trouble. I would recommend that DiscountMag review their automated robo AI email system. Straight answered emails to address problems would be a better way to handle problems. I received only one human response. I will not use them again. Best to go straight to the magazine and take out a subscription. ****This is an edited addition to the original review of this company. I believe their customer service are AI robo-responses. After trying their suggestion to go through the Economist website I hit a snag. The Discountmag instructions don't match the website they ask me to visit. Then they repeat their previous admonition and ask me to wait four weeks from my order - 3 MONTHS AGO! Who manages this company? Just stay away, DiscountMag is not worth the time and trouble. 1) I subscribed to the Economist Magazine on July 13th. The confirmation advised that I would receive an activation code within 4 weeks. There was no activation email. It is almost October. 2) I send an email to customer service. They answered "The Economist did change somethings and you will not receive an activation email. You would receive a Welcome Letter. Once the subscription is active then these would be the instructions to activate:" They sent me photos of instructions that are useless without a code. Apparently I have to deal with Economist now? 3) There was no welcome letter. So I can't follow up. 4) Customer service did not do anything more to help me. I checked discountmag.com refund policy but, they don't advise HOW to get my refund. 5) This is too much trouble. Too much time. And their customer service doesn't carefully read the complaints.

Hello Stew, I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your digital subscription to the Economist. Have you tried just going to Economist.com and logging in with the email from your order? I have just double checked and it looks like the account with that email is currently active. I have had them send you a password reset request so you should have no problems logging in now. Sometimes the e-mail from the Economist gets lost in spam or missed, we have no control over their email system unfortunately. However, your account has been active, all you have to do is just go to their website and log in. I apologize if that was unclear, we can do better in the future for informing customers which website they need to go to in order to access their digital subscription. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience. While I have check and your account has been fulfilled, and this seems to be a simple communication error, if you still wish to cancel and refund we can offer a full refund if you would like. Please just let me know how we can help. We are a small business and greatly appreciate our customers, and reviews like this do have a large impact on us. I have sent a copy of this to your email, and if you do need further assistance you can respond to that email or contact our customer service line at 1-800-673-8187. Have a wonderful day, Andrew
