Just like with most purchases, it's not the customer service that is the problem. The problem lies with the equipment. We have had quite a number of technical issues since hooking up with DirecTV. From download issues such as movies just stopping in the middle of nowhere to random pixelating to glitches in the channel guide display, it just hasn't been a very positive experience thus far. At this particular time, I cannot in all honesty say that I would recommend DirecTV to friends or family.

The research had been completed prior to chatting with Joshua S. So I knew what I wanted. My only stipulation with him was that my service and install would occur next day. Joshua S. Guaranteed that and even said 100% he guaranteed it. I confirmed the date of install with him several times and every time he repeated install tomorrow between 8 am and noon. After setting up the specifics for service and giving my credit card information confirming my contract with directtv, Joshua S. Says his computer calender is messing up and whoops there went his guarantee of install date. He quickly said there was nothing he could do and past me off to a customer service representative. She was friendly and apologetic, but was unable to fix Joshua S.'s lie. Very bad way to sale and want to keep a customer from the start of a business transaction.

Direct TV as a Sales " hook " doesn't offer you, but automatically forces you to have 3 months of premium channels like HBO ect---- and you as the customer, if you don't remember to call them and drop it, will start automatically charging you for that service, even though you did not want it in the first place. This is akin to mail in rebates, wherein, the Marketing company is relying on the fact that only about 25% of the rebates are mailed in. I said I did not want the premium channels at all !, & and was told, that there in no way to take it off. With all the technology that Direct TV has, it is a very simple thing to do, so that means it is a " Policy " of Direct TV, and it should be modified, to allow uninterested customers to decline the Premium offer up front.

I called for a promotion (Free Genie, free NFL Sunday Ticket, free 3 months HBO, Showtime, Cinemax). I was under the impression throughout the conversation, and at the close of the conversation, that I was actually going to get what I called for. However, when they came to install the new service, I was told that my order was for and HD receiver and an HD DVR, which is different from the Genie, and if I wanted the Genie, I had to pay $99. I do understand that the DVR works basically the same as the Genie, however, that is NOT what I was calling to get. I feel as tho this was a "bait and switch" situation with your company. It infuriates me. When someone calls my company for service, they get what they ask for, not whatever we choose to do. Also, your customer service agents speak way too fast on the phone. I feel like that may be why I THOUGHT I was getting what I called for, but in fact did not. The installer was very nice, very helpful and very professional.

The associate I talked to was nice and polite, but he ignored the fact that i just wanted a quote and pricing for the bundle. At the end of our phone call, he quoted me a price for the tv service that was just as much as the bundle I had seen, and wanted to hand me off to someone else to discuss the actual bundle. It is nice that I qualify for so many offers, but I hated that he didn't seem to listen to what I wanted out of this service. I am tempted to cancel my installation date right now, because I just wanted a quote on a TV and internet bundle, not the TV service I was somehow signed up for. I am not happy with the level of service, even though he was extremely polite.

I am so far pleased with the reception and TV service for Direct TV but on our installation day, our service technician was 1 hr later than was scheduled for installation. He had from 12pm-4pm to come and came at 5pm.

We're in the middle of packing to move to a new house. I'm an independent contractor who works from home on computer based projects, so I needed the phone and internet to be available PDQ after we make the final move. Though we told the customer service rep that we had all the details picked out, he proceeded to go through his entire checklist and sales pitch. When he finally made it through all his questions and his banter, he turned me over to a young lady to complete the transaction. She asked some of the same questions that I had already answered! The whole process took between 45 minutes and an hour at a time when I was really busy packing and making other preparations for the move....they were both pleasant to talk to and seemed to know their business, but it just took too long for them to get through the process.

Be experience began with me wanting to locate a rep to avoid any confusion over the phone. When I called, the man on the phone said he couldn't provide me with the information but he could help me quote. Being a VERY knowledgable consumer, I told him EXACTLY what I did and didn't want. I wanted two HD receivers and internet bundled. We jumped through those hoops together and I got my quote. I then had him repeat to me on NUMEROUS ocassions the fees and the total expected cost between Direct and the internet provider. He assured me at least three separate times that I would not be hit with addional fees from both Direct and the internet provider. He also told me the provider would either be Mediacom or AT&T. Fine. After switching over to speak with the internet representative, I had my ear talked off at Mach 3 (not to mention is was a high-pitched voice), I had to decipher everything. I realized I was being offere satellite (!!!!!) internet with an additional $100 fee. I told the young lady that was the complete opposite of what I was told and that I absolutely REFUSED to get satellite internet when a) I live in town b) dial-up is fast than that stuff! She YELLED over me and would not talk to me...rather, at me. I requested to be transferred back to Direct to cancel and she hung up on me. When I was able to speak with a second rep for Direct, I could barely understand him because he was definitey international. I was able to dissect from him that I would get Showtime for free (how'd that happen..?????) and that the Genie DVR wasn't free like I was told. By that point, I was done. I cancelled and went on a manhunt for a rep in one of the local stores (luckily, I knew a local agency here in town that has reps at various locations) before I found one in Best Buy. The individual was very informative. His wife (a sales rep with him) told me how she did things regarding internet set-up...and I have everything put in writing for me to comprehend. Plus, Best Buy offers a $150 gift card to their store when you sign-up. When this comes in, I will be able to buy a router for my AT&T (yes...that's who I ended up with) internet and get all the features I want for the same price as my current provider (who I pay $101 with an only have one receiver with no cool features like Direct). I STRESS that if you're interested in Direct, please locate a local dealer or rep and avoid the fallacies that come from the folks on the phone.
