I was apprehensive about selling my diamond on line but Diamond Lighthouse made me feel very secure every step of the way. They were transparency itself. My stone was sold, the money in my account, everything happened just like they said it would. They called and e-mailed frequently to be sure I was aware of what was going on. I would deal with them again in a minute.

Selling a diamond is a little bit of a bummer because the retail price of diamonds is so inflated that reselling them is depressing as a consumer. It's hard to see the diamond industries clever supply and demand tactics reflected in your own wallet. Overlooking that single aspect, doing business with Diamond Lighthouse was a breeze! The process was very simple and straightforward. The only hiccup I encountered was I never received the video of my diamond being appraised, which would have been comforting to watch. I received 5 or so offers and took the last one. I suspect the offers aren't really from other agencies, but merely a negotiation tactic to get you excited to sell your diamond. Nevertheless, the less than 25% of what I paid retail for the ring didn't shock me and I accepted the offer. Additionally, I was told that a melting fee was "waived" when it was later revealed that the buyer was simply going to purchase the ring as is and not just the diamond. I thought that was a bit dishonest, but I suppose that's to be expected as well. Moral of the story: selling a diamond sucks, but doing it through Diamond Lighthouse is a pretty easy process. Hi Lindsay, Thank you for your business and your review. There are a few things that we would like to clarify at this time. One thing that you mentioned was that you were not able to view your evaluation video. Your video is available to view at any time when you are logged in to your personal Diamond Lighthouse account. If you were experiencing difficulty in viewing it, we wish you would have reached out to any of our customer service reps, who would have happily walked you through it and made every effort to rectify the problem. The main thing that we need to address is when you stated “I suspect the offers aren't really from other agencies.” Our entire business model is based on our open auction platform, where we showcase diamonds that we receive to our network of professional diamond buyers, and they place bids. Our sales team does their very best to ensure that every diamond we receive sells for the highest amount possible. This is because a) we want to make our clients happy and b) we receive a commission from the sale. Our Head of Sales puts a lot of work into urging the buyers to place higher and higher bids! In regards to the “melting fee”; since we deal strictly with diamonds, as a courtesy to our clients, we take whatever precious metal that accompanies the diamond jewelry that we receive and have it melted down at an outside agency. This service is not free, so we deduct a 25% melting fee from the list price of that metal (as listed on the day that it comes in to our offices). As a special courtesy to you, we waived that fee (paying it ourselves) and included the full price of the metal with your overall payment. We are sorry for any confusion regarding this matter. Overall, we are quite happy that you found our process smooth, efficient and profitable; yet we are sorry that you came away with the wrong impression about some of the key aspects of our business. As we really strive to have transparency in all facets of our process, we hope to do a better job of communicating all of these features in the future. I traveled to NYC because I was very skeptical to send my wedding ring and wedding band by mail to a company that I had found online. I figured that by going in person I could make a better call to see if I could truly trust them with my valuables. They explained the process to me thoroughly and not only did I feel assured that my diamond was in safe hands- I left confident that they would get me the most money for my ring. Within a couple of days I had a great offer which surpassed my expectations! If I were to do it again though, I would save the money on the trip and have mailed it directly to them. The staff is not only extremely friendly but they know how to do their job well. I couldn't have had a more positive experience with Diamond Lighthouse from start to finish.

I'm not going to lie, the fact that I had to blindly trust a company and ship my diamond to them, was very frightening. Melissa reassured me every step of the way. I was relieved when it was delivered. The process of evaluating my diamond, was just as indicated on their website. They really do take all the steps necessary, to put your mind at ease and to assure that there is no shady practices taking place. In the end, I didn't sell my diamond and the return process was just as efficient as the beginning process. I would, without a doubt, use Diamond Lighthouse again and would highly recommend them to anyone with the need to sell their jewelry.

I have never sold anything online and was leery about using Diamond Lighthouse, however, each step of the process was professional and easy. Melissa helped make everything go as smoothly as possible. I had a small issue with my check that was issued, but Melissa responded quickly and swiftly and the problem was taken care of immediately. I would use them again!
