Website issues, unexplained charges, and no USPTO filing proof.
I hired Designs Eden to build a website and create branding materials for my new pool service business. The advertised entry price was under $500, but what followed became a $3,311 nightmare. The very first business cards they sent me listed my website as "www . x . com" instead of my actual domain. As a brand-new business that relies heavily on handing out business cards, this delayed my launch before I had even begun. Further, I was upsold stationery that never came. After explaining this to the person taking over my account, he did try to make amends by providing hosting services for free. Ultimately these hosting services were only used for 3 months as I developed a new website and hosted it somewhere else. The website was delivered months late, contained numerous errors that I repeatedly documented in writing, and even included photos advertising services my company is not licensed to perform. Some of those issues remained unresolved after multiple revision requests. At one point the website went offline entirely, and when it came back online previously fixed content had reverted because, according to their own team, the wrong backup had been restored. I have significant website development experience (which I communicated to Designs Eden often). After insisting that they make the website live (due to the length of time it was taking) and give me admin access, I discovered it was built on a heavily modified eCommerce template with numerous unnecessary plugins, leftover demo content, broken URLs, and other technical issues that ultimately forced me to replace the entire website only a few months after launch. Another very concerning issue involved a service sold to me as a "nationwide trademark registration." In my conversations with an individual named Oscar, I was told that the trademark would be for the artwork (logo) and the name of my company (I still have the email). After paying $975, I was not provided with any USPTO trademark serial number, filing receipt, or application confirmation showing that a trademark application was filed. Quite some time later I was contacted by the USPTO and ultimately learned that only the logo artwork—not my company name—had been registered. This was not the service I believed I had purchased. I was also charged hundreds of dollars in fees that were never properly explained or documented, around a "mandatory accessibility compliance". Another thing that concerned me was that my payments were processed through several different company names rather than Designs Eden itself. After my experience, I checked the Google Partners directory and was unable to find Designs Eden listed there, despite the Google Partner badge displayed on their website. In the end, I spent $3,311, rebuilt the entire website myself, moved it to a different hosting provider, and started over. I'm not writing this because one project went badly. I'm writing it because I gave the company multiple opportunities over several months to make things right, documented everything in writing, and ultimately had no confidence that the issues would ever be resolved. If you're considering Designs Eden, ask detailed questions, insist on written documentation for every service, and verify independently that any legal, trademark, compliance, or marketing services have actually been completed. I cannot recommend this company.
