When I first started at debt stoppers in the beginning everyone seemed so helpful. Now 5 years later they have been paid in full and I can't even get a call back what a disappointment. My case has been paid off for 3 months now and still no discharge papers and no returned calls. I paid for a service I kept of my end of the barging by making payments on time and still not enough. This is ridiculous and consumers should not be treated this way when paying for a service. I just want this to be other with and I know in the future I will NEVER EVER DEAL WITH DEBT STOPPERS AGAIN!!!!!!

I had an good experience with them initially until I lost my job and wasn't able to make my payments. I am currently waiting for my unemployment to kick in and while waiting Pierre Porter called me and was extremely rude as I tried to explain why I was not able to make my payment. He said he will enter a hardship thing to explain why havent made a payment and then hung up on me. So today they actually took the payment out my account after I spoke to Pierre and was told differently. The payment they took was my rent money. I have no income whatsoever coming in and the last few dollars in my account was for I could have a roof over my head for another month. I called Debt stoppers to see if they would reverse it until I figure out other options. They transferred me to Pierre Porter and right off bat he was rude. He said its unfortunate but I signed a contract and they need their money. He kept cutting me off and telling me that he won't help me. I asked to speak to somebody else and he said no he is the only person I could speak to. Paying rent is more important then making a payment to debt stoppers UNTIL I get another job. I was hurt that I was treated in that way. Everything is all fine and dandy until you lose your job and can't afford to pay them. I called back and requested to have somebody give me a call. Some advice if you want to keep customers and keep people coming get rid of employees like Pierre. I'm not mad I can't get my rent money back and I will be homeless. I'm mad at the fact that I spoke to him twice and he was rude each time. There is no way that my $250 is more important then me having a place to stay. Do you honestly think I want to make a payment to a company that let's employees treat customers how Pierre did me?

The process was fast and easy. I only have one issue. I was recommended by a co worker who stated the location she went to split her monthly payments in two but the location I went to would not. Which was hard for me because I was already behind on current bills.

When i went for my 1st interview, the different types of bankruptcy were not explained to me. The difference between 13 and 7. However after I went for my 2nd session with an assigned attorney, everything was explained to me and though I was in a 13 which i could not afford, when the 7 was explained, i felt relieved, i switched and received my discharge from the 7 in a couple of months. My attorney, Nicole Holtzapple was the best, she was patient, kind and very knowledegable. She helped me through the stress i was feeling, thank you Nicole for being so patient with me. I would recommend Debt stopper's and hope they would get Nicole as their attorney.

Lack communication

I filed a Chapter 7 due to excessive debt. I was treated with the utmost courtesy and respect by everyone throughout the entire process. Filing bankruptcy was not an easy decision for me because I carried s lot of shame and embarrassment, however, this was not the case when I met with the personnel at Debtstoppers. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DEBTSTOPPERS!!!

My filing attorney was Jordan Van Matre and he give us massive misinformation. The most important was that our bankruptcy payment would not change when I got a job after graduation. Our payment went from $800 to $1500 and I asked him specifically about it during the filing so we would be prepared. Your other attorney (Meghan Trefrey) negotiated a deal with Adam Goodman having us start the payment and only gave us a two week notice. Then we paid an extra $5,000 to Bank of America that we did not owe because we were not in foreclosure and she refused to investigate my concerns. I would never recommend your law firm. You need to train your lawyers if bankruptcy is your specialty.

The attorneys and paralegals could be better at responding to emails and or phone calls in a timely fashion. My attorney no longer worked with the company and I was not advised until I emailed her to ask a question. There were a few discrepancies but other than that, they got the job done!
