They actively misrepresent their homes and landscaping
They actively misrepresent their homes and landscaping on their site photos! The home I visited DOES NOT have mature trees, or a fence of any kind behind the townhouse. Instead, there is A CONSTRUCTION LOT full of exposed pipes, a massive construction dumpster. It looks like they have years of construction to go before this community will be complete? The current view is the CMS BUS LOT in the front, and construction in the back. OMG.

Major Construction Issues
I went under contract with David Weekley at Encore at Chatham Park to build a Carroway in the Vista section at 39 Englehardt Court. During the pre-drywall inspection, my inspector found 54 issues, of which 18 were still not resolved upon re-inspection. According to the report, at least six were not compliant with specific sections of the 2018 North Carolina Residential Code, while others did not meet manufacturing installation specifications. One glaring example related to the weather resistant barrier (WRB). According to the chief consultant on code with the North Carolina Department of Insurance, an improperly sealed WRB can result in moisture penetrating the wall assembly, potentially leading to rot, mold, and deterioration of the wood framing of the home, thereby “causing a home to deteriorate rapidly over time.”
The inspection report also noted the excessive waviness in the James Hardie siding that could “affect the integrity of the cladding assembly over time.” The James Hardie warranty requires that the fiber cement siding be installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications. According to the production manager for a local James Hardie approved installer and repairer of its siding products, wavy siding can be the result of dimensional differential studs, a too tight installation that causes the planks to bow out, or an incorrect nail pattern, among other installation issues.
Other non-resolved issues included missing rigid foam insulation at turndown footings, a horizontal 1/8” crack running from one side of the building to the other, numerous hairline slab cracks, cracks in the foundation where the interior crack ended, and roof gusset repairs rated for specific load thresholds.
Once the reports were submitted to David Weekley, there was considerable pushback on completing the repairs due to “our building process and building schedules.” It seemed that quantity over quality was a big concern for the builder, especially given the aggressive time schedule for these homes. At numerous points, the builder’s project manager on-site kept asking if I “trusted him to build me a beautiful home,” and that I should have confidence that the rips and tears in the WRB had been fixed during the installation of the siding. Yet, he refused to provide either written confirmation or digital photographs that these repairs had been completed as required by code.
Instead of working with me and actually doing what they were supposed to do based on NC residential building code requirements and manufacturer specifications, David Weekley simply cancelled my contract based on a pre-dispute clause, stating that the contract was being cancelled due to their inability to resolve various disputes over the construction of the home (for example, pushbacks on completing repairs based on code and/or manufacturer requirements documented in inspection reports). In addition, they falsely asserted that there were unauthorized visits to the construction site, even though their protocol was followed by informing them of several visits and receiving a hardhat both times from the sales team. A flimsy and false excuse for not building to standards.
This is not the action of a builder concerned for the integrity of the home or truly caring about the homeowner, who has to deal with structural issues in the future. Would strongly recommend not using this builder!
Recommendation: Do not build with David Weekley. If you do build with them, critical to use an experienced and thorough independent inspector.

Pre construction confidence demolished
Presale - I had never heard of the builder but my partner told me they were well known in his state. The other builders were not allowing the customization I wanted. Little did I know David weekly would block some options out for me with failure to disclose as well.
We changed our minds on a lot and I saw orange flags but my partner insisted. The best part of this was the neighborhood we would be building in. So we stayed with them.
Post sale-
Communication with project manager was sub par. Border line prejudicial and ignorant comments were made. This made us feel that our builder - project manager was power playing. Things we were promised to include “visiting our home” at certain stages at our request were ALWAYS denied. Finished we asked for were not done and we were lied to.
Am I happy with my home - yes because I’m privileged. This is a first world complain on the concept of my home! But we are 100% aware that things we wanted did not get done the way we asked because of prejudices and ignorance.
Took over 7 months for our warranty stuff to be done (still waiting for two things to be completed). Communication with Waranty team (as kind and nice as they are)- have dropped the ball. The vendor for doing annual touch ups is not the best.
I would not recommend this builder if the same project managers are there.
Sales reps were beyond respectful and sincere.
I also hesitate to recommend

Didn't know there was a review page for David Weekley till now. We bought our home in 2013 of Nov. “While the home design is appealing, the workmanship and attention to detail were disappointing. These issues make me question the quality control process. I hope the builder improves their standards, so future buyers don’t face the same problems.” The biggest one of all for me is a wall that is crooked, drives me nuts.

After sale service and quality of home
Terrible experience getting them to honor warranty items. They promised to fix the driveway with big cracks now with recent changes in mgt they are saying they will not do so.

Beware
I used to work for David Weekley Homes and loved the product and the people I worked alongside. I believed in the homes we were building, so much so that I purchased one myself.
But my experience took a painful turn.
I was terminated from my position the day before closing on my own David Weekley home—a home I had spent months preparing for emotionally, financially, and professionally. There was no warning, no support, and no explanation that made sense. Shortly after, I learned false information was being shared internally about why I was let go.
To make matters worse, I was not paid the commission on the final home I sold.
I want to be clear: there are great people at David Weekley Homes, and the homes themselves are beautiful. But what happened to me was deeply disappointing and left me questioning the values the company claims to uphold—especially when it comes to how they treat their own team members and honor their commitments.
If you’re considering buying or working with David Weekley Homes, I recommend asking questions and paying attention not just to the product—but to how people are treated behind the scenes.

Dishonest Realtor
Good afternoon,
I would like to express my dissatisfaction with my recent experience purchasing a home in Colorado Springs. I feel that I am being given the runaround regarding my transaction.
My realtor and I were verbally informed by the listing agent that we could either receive a discount or benefit from their 4.99% financing offer. I submitted an offer of $675,000 along with a refrigerator, which the seller accepted. However, when I went to provide my earnest money and sign the contract, the listing agent had added a clause stating that I was required to use David Weekley Finance in exchange for the discount on the home. This financing option has the highest interest rate.
Additionally, I noticed that they are offering a $4,000 decorating allowance to 'hometown heroes,' but I was told I could not access this benefit because the agent claimed I had already received a discount, which he classified as an incentive. However, the discount I received was not part of any promotion they are currently offering.

We purchased a home about a year ago in…
We purchased a home about a year ago in Alpharetta Georgia. The buying experience was easy and we love the house. But, we've had issues with our backyard. The gutters were not installed properly and everything it rains, it ruins the grass. Also, the lot isn't graded properly and we have standing mud on our patio every time it rains. We've been asking for it to be fixed and it still isn't.
The other problem is the main gate has been broken several times and for weeks at a time. The community is still under construction, so the main gate stays open all day, which is an issue in itself, but now because of the broken gate, it's open all night too. There have been safety concerns, people using our amenities and solicitation and David Weekley hasn't done anything after numerous complaints.
