It's not a good antivirus
It's not a good antivirus. It's entirely containment-based and hard to use. When opening my browser it shows 10 popups. The valkyrie system is pretty cool but barely ever works.

I purchased an S/MIME certificate from them but their certificate generation link does nothing at all. I tried with a few different browsers but none work, and the settings their help pages say to change in Chrome didn't exist for 5 years. I contacted validation support about the problem but they told me my order has been rejected - even though they have taken my money - and I need to contact sales. I tried to message sales but the website form doesn't work, it just seems to submit and then nothing. So I tried to get a refund, since there is a 30 day money back guarentee, but the only way to get a refund is to do a web chat with them. No one answers these chat messages, I have been trying for 3 days now. It looks like the only way to get a refund is to open a PayPal dispute. Updated to 2 stars because once I finally got through to their support they did start the refund process without too many questions. I did have to try for 3 days to actually get through to someone on the online chat though.

I used this browser a couple of weeks. Nice browser based on Google Chrome. I abandoned it due to one issue. Every once in a while, usually a couple times a day, a tab would pop up saying my Chrome browser (yes, Chrome) was an older version and I should update it. Say what?? I went to the Comodo user forum and left a query about that. No one from Comodo ever responded. I uninstalled the browser. Too bad because I liked the browser.

Update: May 28 2019 Sandy Shady from Comodo returned my calls. She was very polite and professional. She listened and apologized for what were not her mistakes. She refunded the 3 unauthorized charges that should be returned in around 5 to 7 days. Hopefully this works out fine as we like the product. At this moment we are still working on deciding what to do next. ====================== We started reselling comodo client security that now moved to itarian (partnership) and everything is falling apart. They have been auto-renewing packages of 20 licenses without our request or permission. We've been contacting them for a month and received no replies. We used the portal and emailed several email addresses given to us, placed calls. No luck. Nobody returns calls or knows anything. Left messages, no luck. After this our only option is hire an attorney and fight comodo, of course they lose a client and many many others because of their lack of honesty and support. Must say that I'm very disappointed and will only support my clients till their licenses expire. After will move all to another solution. Please, be aware! You risk it you lose it! COMODO is not a company to be trusted! I've notified them about their email servers mis-configurations... of course no replies! Most of the secure email servers won't receive emails from them! They don't care or don't have good enough techs for a simple task! AGAIN! BEWARE!

Very bad support. Customer is ignored. Very bad validation process. They keep asking more and more documents. It is cheap, but in the end after paying a lawyer, or a notary to notarize the dozens of documents required, it will become expensive.

Way too many notifications and it was interfering/blocking scripts such as django-admin. It consistently shoves feature upon feature down your throat and the only way to disable the things you don't want is to read through lists of ambiguous and poorly documented settings. The only reason I would recommend this to someone would be if they were overly paranoid about their security and would be happy to read through the fifty or so settings within the software.

Whereas Comodo handles the basics reasonably well, it is the most intrusive firewall I have ever used and the accompanying browsers are most unreliable. You get the sense that Comodo is more concerned with protecting others from you than you from others. The recommended "secure" dns servers will block fairly inocuous and established sites such as Blogspot and Music Stacks as 'Warez' sites. Music Stack is a record collectors site which I use for my work. Although Blogspot may contain some links to such sites, I am unaware of them and this seems a very heavy-handed approach. If you try to mark such sites as safe, the software will reject you. You cannot be trusted with your own activity. The 'secure' browsers that Comodo packages (basically hacked versions of Firefox and Chrome) are atrocious. The Chrome clone barely works at all, crashing within a day every time I reinstalled it. The Firefox clone insists on using every mb of processing power your computer has available regardless of what else you may be doing. It comes packaged with a utility called 'Geek Buddy' which seems suspiciously similar to a remote access tool. What it really is, of course, is an opportunity to nag you. While the core firewall protection seems pretty effective, it is still sometimes necessary to use Malwarebytes or some other tool to repair what Comodo has been unable to prevent. My first experience with this software was some years ago. What I liked about it then was that it was lightweight, unobtrusive and fairly silent. These are the very opposite of what it has become - another opportunity to police your internet activity on someone else's behalf.

First of all, the good. SSL certificates are fine. No real problems there, the EV certificate we have provides the green address bar as it should. They let you know when it's going to expire. Purchasing/renewing is a little tricky as to get decent pricing we have to place through our own reseller account, which is fiddly and time consuming. My real issue is with their PCI scanning services. We seem to get it for free with the EV SSL Certificate we have, allegedly at a massive discount of over a thousand dollars. However, getting the service for free is a complete pain, as we have to navigate several different web interfaces to generate a free order, validate it as a reseller, then once the order is created we seem to have to claim it within the HackerProof control panel, and then create a new device using that license. Fine if you have to do it once, but it seems to expire more frequently than yearly, and suddenly we can not prove our PCI compiance to the bank, hence our fees go up. Any attempt to ask support about it is met with stock answers, and you really have to dig to get to the root of the problem. If the service we are getting for free is really worth over $1000 then I would expect premium support. However we paid for Hackerproof at the list price in our first year, and the support was still as bad and the interface still as confusing and convoluted. Then there's the issue of false positives from the PCI scans. I have to keep renewing them without any warning (so the site goes out of compliance), and very often the issue is to do with Comodo not understanding how Ubuntu version numbers work. Ubuntu is a very common operating system for hosting now. They should have this fixed! In all honestly, when it works it's fine, but given the time taken to sort out problems, the complexity of the various web interfaces, and the inability of support to show any initiative at all, I can't recommend them.
