I'm a noob of just six months, but I have been very happy with the fact that everything I need is right here, and my suite-mates and neighbors look out for each other. The management team have been extremely responsive and easy to reach. Technology is used to enhance the personal experience, not to replace it. I have learned a few things, maybe I can share some pointers with a new neighbor.

I lived here for 6 years and the current property management company is the best one we've had. They are extremely responsive and quickly resolve any concerns. The building is clean, a great value, and the location cant be beat. 2 blocks from the light rail in the heart of Capitol Hill!

Positive experience. Had not so great housemate that wouldn't listen and made life difficult, but despite that the worker made this complex a very nice place to live in. And they are understanding to your needs and problems and want to help

Was excited when I came across this business model and thought it would make my move to Chicago a simple transition. However, it has been anything but...for starters, the building wasn't ready to move in, filled with post-construction debris and no hot water. The entry system was not working, delivery code wasn't programmed as given at move-in so all shipments were missed. More importantly USPS didn't have access so mail wasn't delivered for weeks...So much for a smooth and easy transition to a new city! Also, the a/c was out for about a week after they got the hot water fixed which took about 4 days...There were a few other miscellaneous issues as well, but trying to communicate with Common Support was like pulling teeth...or maybe a ghost town cause no one got back to me promptly, you'd call the answering service or use the app to create a ticket only to never hear back for days and sometimes not at all. Most recently, I received multiple emails daily notifying my rent wasn't paid, but when trying to pay in the portal there was no access to do so, but yet somehow they still charged my card that was on file from when I was paying move-in expenses...I asked for some clarity, and all I got was an email saying "all is well" and no explanation...I guess wanting to know how I'm being charged was too much of an ask...bottom line don't move here if you are expecting the Common back office to communicate in a timely and reasonable fashion. Customer service is not their priority. That's why the only contact you have is for an answering service and/or emails...both of which can easily be tooled to avoid speaking with members and pass them and their concerns off to the next person.

Living in a Common space has been better than I could have imagined. The space is fantastic, the staff are helpful and kind, I literally have no complaints, this is totally the way to do urban living in 2020. As a student, I was worried initially about commuting to campus or working at home, but I never expected I'd actually prefer to complete my work at home, in my Common room! Thank you Common!
