Acceptable to Good, But Needs Important Improvements
Colourpop is a decent option for affordable makeup. They tend to have plenty of on-trend options with fairly good quality. The ordering process online is smooth and straight-forward. My 3-star review is based on several factors, primarily that Colourpop has no physical locations (though they do sell a few of their products at select beauty retailers), therefore buying products that require a precise color-match, like foundation, is really a toss-up, a guessing scenario where the customer stands to loose always because, as it so happens, Colourpop doesn’t accept returns or exchanges. So we can’t test or closely examine their products, and oh by the way we also can’t return them if they don’t suit our needs or fail to meet our expectations? How is that customer service, or even good business practice? Even drugstore makeup can be returned if there is a problem with the product, so this practice by Colourpop is unacceptable. The argument Colourpop has made in an attempt to justify this is that their prices are sooo low, this shouldn’t matter. Actually, it does. Our money is our money, even if it’s in small-ish amounts. Thankfully, most Colourpop products I’ve purchased over the years have delivered on their promise -in color, in performance, etc-, but there have been exceptions, and those are truly annoying to resolve. Other than this, I like this company and enjoy (most) of what they sell. Their return/exchange policy and customer service, however, can be greatly improved to at the very minimum match industry standards.
