Help with essay and college list
We signed up with Collegewise the summer before our son's senior year to get assistance with the Common App essay and help with creating a list of colleges that were a good match for our son. The help with the essay was fantastic. The process was smooth and involved much less angst than it would have if we'd tried to help him ourselves. The Collegewise counselor helped him frame his ideas and the editors gave him good feedback he could easily use to improve the essay. In the end, our son had a good essay that was honestly written by him. I was less impressed with the help building the college list. We paid for 1.5 hours of assistance which is perhaps not enough time as I didn't feel the list the counselor provided really reflected our son. So maybe either skip this or pay for more hours so you can get a more thoughtful list.
