Hello Nicole, thanks for checking us out.
We are a marketplace that connects people who need to ship cargo to those who can deliver it. As a marketplace, it means you shop for the price that fits your budget. If you list a shipment you should get a lot of bids from different drivers who will charge different rates. You can then choose which driver you want to contract with. We want to address your concern, please let us know how we can help.

I booked a job with a CITIZEN SHIPPER
I booked a job with a CITIZEN SHIPPER, specifically with MARANA COTTIER, on Sept 4, and paid Sept 7 for a job scheduled for Oct 3.
On Sept 17 I canceled the job because my reason for traveling was canceled. All of this is documented on texts.
So far, of the $1130 paid, I have received only $600 for the TIMELY refund request.
MARANA COTTIER, abetted by CITIZEN SHIPPER, are refusing to return my money. They have stolen my money.
This is an ethical failing, and is theft. How well do you expect CITIZEN SHIPPER and MARANA COTTIER to treat your pets?
Do NOT do business with CITIZEN SHIPPER or MARANA COTTIER.

Hello there,
As the Operations Manager for CitizenShipper I wanted to reach out personally and reassure you that our platform is completely legitimate.
There have, unfortunately, been occurrences where customer did not read the contract with the driver, as well as the terms of their agreement in using our site, resulting in frustration and unhappiness.
We strive to do our best, through customer support, to resolve issues to the customers' satisfaction and to treat the drivers fairly, which means conducting a thorough investigation whenever there is a situation that is not resolved through discussion.
Further, CitizenShipper is only connected with the drivers as a third-party, assisting with verification and connecting them with customers in need. We have limited resources to mediate situations, legally as well as ethically, as we are not the employers, you are.
You, the person who signed the contract and paid for services rendered, are the actual employer of Marana Cottier. This is why we provide articles that outline the refund policy, and perhaps we need to make it even more clear that what customers are paying for is the support, the programming, the web hosting, the background checks, the driver profile creation, and everything else that allows an everyday citizen to make a good choice of driver for their shipment.
Optionally, if you were to go on Craigslist and post an ad, you would either take your chances on a stranger, or you'd have to pay for a background check, verification of insurance, try to figure out if they have experience and if they have even done transportation before. The value we provide is in doing all of that verification for you.
Again, I am sorry that you have had a bad experience. I am looking into the one-time refund of your booking fee.
If the driver had a contract stating the deposit you paid was nonrefundable, or refundable for half of the deposit.
I hope you are able to work with us to get this all figured out. Talk soon!

Scammed by Citizenshipper's Driver
I booked through Citizenshipper to ship a pair of speakers from mid west to east coast via West Coast Sunset Service (Sarah Smith). I consulted with Citizenshipper when Sarah Smith asked for 50% upfront and they said it is okay to do so. When she was late for 2 weeks and finally picked up the speakers, she asked for another 25% which I paid. Since then, she never updated me the delivery date and refused to respond on ETA or her current route. When confronted, she threatened to put my speakers in storage and put a lien on it (really, do you know what a lien is for). I gave her the benefits of doubts that she may deliver eventually. Eventually, is another 4 weeks and no updates. I'll file charges against her mid December. Stay away.
Tip for consumers:
Do not trust reviews or background check. It does not mean anything. Citizenshipper cannot do anything to help you if scammed by drivers.

We're really sorry to hear you went through such problems with your booked driver! I assure you this is not typical of the drivers on our platform.
Since drivers are independent contractors, and do not work for CitizenShipper, we do not have any control or ability to issue refunds for money. The payments are processed directly between the customer and the driver.
I would suggest requesting a dispute through the method you used to pay them if this option is available. If not, I would suggest letting the driver know you will be filing a theft charge if they do not issue the refund immediately for you. If you do decide to pursue legal action, we are happy to provide any information pertaining to your shipment that we are able to help with this process.

For Professionals Only
This site was supposed to provide the average person the opportunity to make money safely transporting pets. Instead, professional shippers are bidding low because they can take multiple shipments. The average person does not stand a chance of winning a bid.

Hi there, thanks for reaching out, I'm happy to help. I'm sorry to hear that you've been having some troubles with winning bids and communicating with customers. We want you to be successful on our site and want to assist you in doing so. If you'd like I can forward your information over to our driver team who can work with you and provide some great insight into the business and how to win more bids.
As for your issue, you have described just one of many different types of people that use our marketplace.
We support those who are seeking supplemental income or a way to cover their travel expenses as well as transporters who are building a professional pet-carrying career.
The great thing about CitizenShipper is that the customer is the one deciding which driver best fits their criteria. And when it comes to pets, it's always the most trustworthy person, not necessarily the cheapest one.
Simply step into your customer shoes and ask yourself would you risk booking someone to transport your most precious cargo without being 100% sure that they have everything that's adequate to do the job properly?
We have found that at least half of all winning bids do not go to the lowest bidder, but with drivers who demonstrate relevant experience.
I would encourage you to make your value proposition clear when submitting bids. What makes you a good fit for the job that they need? By asking them the right questions and responding quickly to their concerns, is the best pathway towards being able to charge more.
We are happy to help you though the process if you contact us. We can show you how other successful drivers do it.

Tim is a liar and a thief
Tim agreed Take my two Rottweilers to Lebanon Oregon along with two crates 50+ pounds of food and a box of toys food bowls an AKC paperwork…. 50 foot chain and a 25 foot chain…
Upon arrival the dogs were delivered to my sons in Lebanon Oregon but the chains and a basketball and a football and all the dog food did not get delivered and when I called TimAnd informed him and ask him what happened he told me he thinks he lost the toys and a hotel room and he said he threw the dog food away because he was allergic to it… Tim owes me $100 for all the stuff that did not get delivered and what gets me the most is that I stayed in communication the whole trip of my dogs going to my sons and he did not inform me of any of this until I called him and confronted him after learning that stuff was not delivered for me that is very bad credibility and not trust worthy And I do not recommend Nor will I ever use his service again he is a liar and a thief.

Citizenshipper reply is bogus nonsense. Puppies were never delivered. That is the problem. I got ripped off by citizenshipper.
Paid $690 to drive 2 puppies from Iowa to TX. Promised 15 hours max. Took 29 and driver refused to deliver to my home stating "bad address" which is false. Tried to give direction to my location but driver was snarky and told me they couldn't drive and read directions at the same time. Driver threatened to withhold puppies if not paid in full even though they breeched the contract to deliver from point A to point B. Driver had small tot in car with her for the 29 hours driving. Not cool.
Response from CitizenShipperDec 30, 2021
Hi Albert, I see from other reviews that your address is apparently not one that is easily found. I have had that happen with UPS on multiple occasions and I get very frustrated going to the local store to get my packages. It does seem like the driver was unwilling to risk the safety of a child and puppies to try reading while driving. Although frustrating, the puppies were delivered in a safe manner and the presence of a child or personal pet is not prohibited while transporting. Also, sometimes unexpected issues occur when traveling long distances and hopefully the driver kept you updated on her progress to the destination. I can say cases like this are rare and we try correct for issues but there is only so much we can predict. Thank you for providing feedback that enables us to improve our service, Albert.

I went on their site to get estimates…
I went on their site to get estimates to have a rv shipped. I recieved an offer that was great so I booked it. I paid $179 for a booking fee. Then the driver called me and told me to send her money through cash app or PayPal and not to use the site. I told her that I would contact the company and she started to desperately send me text messages begging me to send her money. I asked citizen shipper for a refund and they said they could only credit my account. So I contacted the better business bureau and citizen shipper agreed that I was entitled to a refund. However they never gave me my money back. These people are liars and thieves. Please do not use this service.
Response from CitizenShipperDec 27, 2021
Hi Jessie, I see from following up on your case in our support system that your refund was, in fact, sent back to you when you requested it. If you would reconsider your rating it would be most appreciated, as we accommodated your request.

My purchase of a puppy feel through…
My purchase of a puppy fell through less than 3 hours after hiring a driver. The driver was delightful when I had to cancel but the company refused to give me a refund. Buyer BEWARE!
