Chess improvement for beginners (and beyond)
Let's face it, chess is not an easy game to play well. (Did you know that there are more potential chess move variations than there are observable atoms in the universe?!) Historically, you may have learned by reading a book (and this is, of course, still a possibility) but these days there is a simply vast amount of information available online. Unfortunately, we have gone from one extreme to another - from very little information to having so much it becomes difficult to know what to use, and we feel overwhelmed. Well, I managed to go from being a complete beginner to having a rating of 1,000 on Chess.com (this isn't a spectacular rating by any means but is well above the average of around 600). And the single biggest contributor to that success has been the fantastic people at ChessMood. ChessMood was created by a Grandmaster (Avetik 'Avo' Grigoryan) and has tuition videos divided into both topics and suggested rating ranges. I have the 'The Rise of Champions' course and it is exceptional - Avo is confident that anybody following the course will reach a rating of at least 800. You can even sample some sections of the courses for free to see whether you like them. Oh, and the excellent videos are backed-up by the very supportive team at ChessMood (including a members forum where you can ask questions). I'd like to give a special shout-out to two of the team in particular - Awesome Avo and Lovely Lily (keep doing what you are doing both of you!) If you are looking for online chess courses ... look no further than ChessMood!
