I am writing to express my dissatisfaction regarding my recent experience with the GM level subscription. I anticipated having the opportunity to analyze games using advanced software without any time constraints. However, I was taken aback to discover that the analysis had ceased upon my return to my computer. Initially, I believed there might be an issue with my device, but I later noticed a prompt asking if I wished to continue the analysis. I selected to continue, only to find that the analysis restarted from the beginning. It has come to my attention that the system restricts analysis to approximately 20 minutes of inactivity, after which it halts unless the user is actively engaged with the computer. This limitation is not disclosed anywhere on their website, leading to a feeling of unfairness regarding my investment of $1,000 for a one-year subscription. The lack of transparency concerning the time restriction is concerning; I now feel as though I could have utilized Stockfish for free. I would strongly advise potential users to reconsider their investment in Chessify, especially given that Stockfish is available at no cost, and it appears there are now charges associated with Stockfish as well.

Hi Dr. Burmeister, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience — we’re genuinely sorry to hear that your expectations weren’t met, and we appreciate the opportunity to address this. To clarify: our subscription-based cloud engine servers (e.g. the 20–80 MN/s server included in the GM plan) will continue running as long as the user confirms their presence via the prompt, which appears after 30 minutes of inactivity. This safeguard isn't meant to limit analysis, but rather to prevent unattended sessions from consuming excessive server resources. This is a necessary practice to ensure stable, high-performance access for all subscribers. We do mention this detail in the FAQ section of our pricing page, but based on your feedback, we realize it should be made more visible. We’ll work on improving how this is communicated to new users. That said, we take user satisfaction seriously. We’d love the chance to speak with you directly and see how we can make this right. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] — we’d be happy to assist you personally. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention. Warm regards, The Chessify Team
