In June of 2018 I searched on google for a moving company and input my contact information into a website to have a moving quote done for my upcoming move. The move was to take place from Irvine California to Alexandria VA with a pickup date near the end of July. I was inundated with calls an emails and received quotes from 3 companies over the phone. I spoke initially with Charter Van Lines (MC#964891) who provided a quote over the phone and when researching online had several great reviews on yelp and other websites which now appear to be fake given the large volume of recent very negative reviews. Charter required an initial deposit of 1/3 of the price ($815) and would not release the name of the carrier until 7 days prior to the pickup date which is after the non-refundable date of the deposit. Sky Van Line arrived for pickup on the 26th of July and during the walk through the price was increased from $2465.67 to $3419.89. I did not have any time to find another mover and therefore reluctantly signed for the increased price. Sky Van Line (MC# 809843) has yet to deliver household goods as of 14 September 2018 and appears to be screening phone calls Today, the 13th of September, marks 30 business days since the first available delivery date of 3 August. I have been unable to reach Sky Van Line directly and can only get information through Charter Van Lines. Detailed call logs created over the past several weeks, and voice recordings of each connected call are available. I now assume that my items have been stolen, since I am unable to reach the company allegedly in possession of my items, and unable to get a legitimate location of my items. Therefore, I am in the process of trying to reach the proper department in the California police department to report my items stolen, so I can file a claim through my insurance company who require a police report. Additionally, Sky Van Line is owned by Yaacov Perez with an address of 14937 San Fernando Mission Blvd Mission Hills, CA 91345, Mission Hills. Yaacov Perez and the Sky Van Line address are associated with the additional following companies: Sky Van Line - MC#809843 Lion Transportation - MC# 553139 Pure Moving Systems LLC - MC# 757948 Apple Van Lines - MC# unknown I have contacted Move Rescue who have offered to aid in recovering items. Do yourself a favor and listen to what all the horrible reviews are saying. I took a chance like many others and regret it. Charter Van Lines is a broker company. They hire a company that will accept the least amount of money from them to move your stuff. They also require you to buy U-Haul boxes and won't move anything in any other box, bin, tub, etc. They require a special plastic fitting for your bed and if you do not have it when the movers get there, the movers will charge you extra. They have just about the worst customer service I've ever received if that tells you anything. Every single time I called to get any information or try to figure out when they were going to come get my stuff, they were always out of office or never picked up. Literally a day prior to my moving date I was finally able to get some information. They told me anywhere from 8 AM to 6 PM they would be coming to move my stuff then they specified more and told me it would be somewhere between 3 PM and 6 PM. What do you know, 6 PM rolls around and the moving company is still nowhere to be found. They finally arrived about 6:20 PM. The actual moving company, Midwest Movers, were wonderful and took care of everything the way they should have. They did show up in a Penske truck with another customer's furniture/items in it though. I moved out of a 1 bedroom apartment and my stuff barely fit in the truck. I had to leave my couch and numerous other items because they simply wouldn't fit in a truck that already had other stuff in it. No complaints with the actual moving company, but I was charged extra once they arrived for numerous things. I was informed that night that the guys moving my stuff were probably not going to be the ones to move my furniture/items or drive them up there and that it may or may not even be that day or week, matter of fact. I moved from Tennessee to Indiana with only a small suitcase full of clothes and a few extra items that were able to fit in my car. It is now exactly 23 BUSINESS days since they moved my furniture/items and I still have nothing. I have been sleeping on a couch for the last month almost wearing the same clothes over and over that I brought with me. I recently called to find out where my stuff was and a lady answered. She told me she didn't know where it was and that she needed to put me on hold. Another girl then answered the phone to tell me she had went to the bathroom! I proceeded to ask her if she was able to help me since she worked there and she flat out told me, "I don't work here. I just saw her put down the phone so I picked it up." If that doesn't show their level of professionalism, I don't know what does. Frustrated, I continue to wait for the other girl to get back on the phone. I then ask her again where my furniture/items were located. She told me they were still in Tennessee - might I add that they have been sitting there for 3 whole weeks by this time. After 21 days apparently the company is able to start storing your stuff and charging you to do so. My brother called yesterday and they told him it could actually take "30 business days" to get my stuff. Upon hearing this information and feeling as though I have been taken advantage of, he told them he would be filing a complaint with the company and they honestly could have cared less. They do NOT care. I'm nearly 60 years old and all I want is to be able to sleep in my own bed and not be cramped up on a couch. Thankfully, I atleast have that to sleep on. This has been, by far, the worst experience I've ever had. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE. You're honestly better off just paying a complete stranger and renting a U-Haul than hiring this company to do your moving for you. Really though, get friends or family members, anyone you know to help you load it up and unpack it and drive the truck to your new home yourself. Here I am, $1,500 later and still nothing to show for it. That's also just the deposit and the first half of the money you pay. Once I receive my items, I'll have to pay even more money. My original quote all together was $1,400. I even got rid of the couch and a few other items that were included in that quote. And I surely don't think a plastic cover for my bed and 2 extra boxes cost that much. I'll try to update this upon receiving my furniture to let you know how the rest of my experience goes, ya know, if they ever deliver it to me and get it out of Tennessee!

THE WORST COMPANY EVER! They are a broker which they don't care to disclose. They underestimated the actual cost like all brokers do...The actual shipping company refused to load it until they got an extra 5K and if I refused I was out the 3K deposit so I was screwed. They have had my furniture for since Aug 1st and now we are at the 24th and I can not get anyone to call me back on either end. They are very rude after you book and demanding for more money. This is about 60k worth of furniture and I am about to report it stolen.

CHARTER VAN LINES IS A JOKE!! I CANT BELIEVE ANYONE RATED THEM 5 STARS. THIS MUST HAVE BEEN PEOPLE FROM THE COMPANY OR SOMEOEN THEY PAID. not only did they not give me my requested pick up date, they wouldn't give me a delivery date. they claimed they would at pick up and then when they got here they still couldn't. its a broker that hires local movers and they disappears and wont reply to emails or calls. Robert at charter van lines was my sales person who completely lied to me saying I would not be charged any additional than what was originally quoted and then movers got here wanting to charge more for weight and space saying they would take the material if not. I fired the movers on the spot and charter van lines refused to refund my deposit. THEY ARE THE WORST MOVERS IV EVER EXPERIENCED. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A COMPLETE SCAM. THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS. NEVER EXPERIENCED WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE. SUCH A JOKE.

NEVER trust a moving company demanding a deposit up front! Your reputable moving companies will not charge a dime until unloading your belongings. We got burned big time. Your estimate will more than double before it's all said and done. But you won't find that out until you're within the 7-day window of moving so you lose your deposit if you cancel. Total scam. Do yourself a favor and look at the BBB of Florida. Then ask yourself why there are more complaints there than positive feedback.

I concur with all of the negative reviews posted in March and April of this year. I too was charged more for "additional" items after loading. Yes, I did add a couple things but I also subtracted MANY items that I ended up selling and donating. My move was inventoried by another moving company and I'd forwarded that list to Charter for them to quote from, so it's not like I guesstimated anything. I received 5 different delivery dates over the course of the move. No one communicated the same message to me. When I was given the final date by the driver, requested the day off work to be there, he calls me the morning he was supposed to be here to say he got "stuck" in Atlanta with a big load that was ahead of mine and wouldn't be there until the next day. When he arrives the next day, he refused to pull the truck up to my place and instead charged me extra for "long carry." He did not have any ramps, appliance dollies, straps or other professional equipment and his one helper he'd found by posting an ad on Craigslist. I found the Craigslist ad to be sure the helper was telling the truth. He refused to move a toolbox into my unit because it was "too heavy." Well that item had been inventoried and showed at 350lbs, not my fault he didn't have the manpower or equipment to handle the contract. Charter is a broker and while I knew that going into this move, I expected that they had better access to quality movers than I would. Turns out, that was not the case at all. My move was subcontracted our to two horribly rated companies. I could have hired a shady driver and Craigslist labor myself! Charter did not respond to my report to the BBB. I have now filed a complaint with the Palm Beach County Department of Consumer Affairs. Charter is NOT licensed through the county they operate in. If I do not get an answer from the county, next I will file complaints with the state of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and then the U.S. Department of Transportation. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY , THEY ARE FRAUD !! ok so I want to start with all the reviews you see for this company seems to be real fake. This company is real real fake one and they will just looking to scam you as you soon as you are done with initial payment. They are not moving company first of all , they are just agents. My advice would do not deal with this company , I am having real hard time to deal with these folks.
