100% on the buyer's side, not the seller's is why it's free to list.
CAB (carsandbids.com) is focused on the buyer all the way, l yet without their free inventory they'd have nothing. I tries selling an amazing low-mile 2009 Aston Martin DBS on CAB. My asking price during the submission was $160,000. CAB said the value of the car is somewhere between $150k and $155k, and hence would accept the car if the reserve was $150k. I obliged and we set the reserve at $150k because they assured me the car would have successful results on their site. $97,496 was the high bid. The car was bashed on their site by a load of wannabe sour non-buyer critics. And, CAB supported the critics through their comments in the post. Not one positive push for the car - all for the bashers. Why?...I think it was to ensure a sale commission for them by trying to convince me, pressure me, after the auction that I should accept $97,469 based on "the market has spoken". As a seller CAB showed their true colors to me and I will never need to beckon their doors again. Think about this...why would they have told me to have the reserve at $150k? By the way another exact car sold on CAB just a few months ago for $151,000. Hmmmm.
Response from Cars & BidsJul 22, 2024
Hi CST, We're sorry to hear that you're unsatisfied with your DBS auction experience. We agree that the result on your DBS was under-market. There is an element of randomness to all car auctions, and we see the reserve functioning as it should in your case. We're disappointed to hear that you feel Cars & Bids supported the critics in the listing details. Transparency is the cornerstone of all Cars & Bids listings, highlighting both the good and bad of every vehicle. Bidders are committing to purchase based on the photos, videos, and our description of the vehicle - making transparency paramount to their trust in the process. Also, please keep in mind that all listings are approved by the seller before they go live, and we encourage sellers to highlight any concerns they have about the listing to us at that time. If you have any questions about our reserve setting process, listing transparency, or moderation policies, feel free to contact us at [email protected]
