I sold a car with them a few years ago. It went well, although they had me retake pictures many times. Now they seem to want you to use their photography services and not accept the pictures you take yourself. They will not accept pictures from my phone. I took between 100 and 200 pictures with a camera. None of them met their specifications.

We are proud to offer Cars & Bids…
Doug needs to respond to this, and before the Doug lovers come out and scream that it's not Doug's responsibility...it is. This is his site. Doesn't matter that he sold it, he markets it in every video, he runs it. There is no other face of C&B.
We are proud to offer Cars & Bids SafePay as the easiest way to complete your purchase.
Please tell me what the misunderstanding on my part was? My plan was to place winning bid, then use providers of Cars & Bids to pay and finish purchase by using your transport service to ship car. This is advertised as the safest and easiest way to purchase a car by your online site. I was looking for the easiest all in one purchase I could make. I tried dozens of times (as did the seller) to be verified and pay for this vehicle. Finally went to facial recognition and then was told because I used facial recognition , because your program wouldn't work, I would have to send wire transfer, which my bank will charge me to do. It's not like I just bailed on this deal. I tried hours to pay for this car and was given no help and nothing but answers in chat read from a script. This was not the experience I expected after following Cars & Bids almost daily for years. This was not a misunderstanding on my part! This was a failure of your company to provide the services it advertises. Cars & Bids was able to immediately take my buyers fee yet couldn't and wouldn't let me pay what I owed immediately. I know I can finish the transaction between me and the seller bypassing your providers. That was not my plan. I wanted the easiest route by paying another fee and using the tools your company provided to make this purchase seamless. The misunderstanding is on Cars & Bids part. My intention was to pay and to pay quick that day and this would have been a simple transaction. Even just a simple "I'm sorry, we'll put this through immediately," would have been enough to seal this deal. I'm out and if you want to penalize me by keeping buyers fee because of your providers failure, well, so be it. This was never about the money. This is a little dinky 7,000 deal plus 8-9 hundred for shipping. This is a matter of principle to me because Cars & Bids failed to live up to the expectations one would expect from their website and podcasts. As far as I can tell you guys don’t seem to care that this kind of service is bad for business. Once you start putting money over customer you lose.

You
Hi Irving,
We completely understand if you do not wish to move the deal forward, and are sorry to hear that this has been your experience thus far. We have notified Cars & Bids so they can reach out and discuss cancelling the deal if you and the seller do not wish to proceed with the sale privately outside of SafePay.
SafePay has not collected any funds from you, or your seller, at this time, so any funds previously sent for your transaction were facilitated through Cars & Bids.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if we may be of further assistance, and we wish you the best with your vehicle purchase.
Kindly,
Bailey

Very disappointing experience
Title: Very Disappointing Experience – Poor Support and Unfair Practices
I had a very negative experience with Cars & Bids. After winning a bid, I received no real assistance from their team to complete the purchase. Despite the seller not following through, I was still charged a buyer’s fee. When I disputed the charge, instead of addressing my concerns, they disabled my account entirely.
Their customer service is extremely inconsistent — communication is limited to emails and chat, which are often unresponsive or delayed. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and borderline scam-like. I would strongly advise others to be cautious when using Cars & Bids.

Hi MafiMia,
We've requested more information through Trustpilot so we can better understand what happened after your auction win.
While failures to complete the sale are incredibly rare, in the event that these failures are caused by the seller, we refund the buyer and ban the seller from all future activity on Cars & Bids.
Thank you, and we look forward to receiving more information.

Will not use Cars and Bids
I had uploaded over 100 pictures and because I had TWO pictures that did not meet their standard, I was not able to proceed in the listing. This was a 2- week process with them and became such a headache. I had already accepted a lower reserve than I wanted to. I truly feel like the seller does not have control in the listing process. Having a standard is great but not be able to move forward is absurd. I will not be listing any vehicles on this site.

They only care about thier commission
I was bidding on a car on 08-13-2025 on Cars and bids and instead of bidding $26,501 I accidentally bid $36,501...It was with less than a minute to go and I won the car. I was upping my bid $750 not $10750...I immediately stated it was a mistake but it was 2 late. I immediately called the seller and explained and he understood and told me that bid of $26,501 would not buy the car as reserve was $32,000. We agreed to unwind the deal. I offered to pay his entry but luckily there was no entry fee. I contacted cars and bids and they basically told me to bad either we follow through with the deal or we are banned and our $1825 buy fee was non refundable. I explained we would call our credit card and fight it...They were quick to say to bad we have a team to fight that. This is a obvious mistake that anyone with decency would make right. You can see its an obvious mistake! Cars and Bids has 17 Better Business Bureau reviews that they did not even bother to reply to! All they care about is thier Sell fee! F-
UPDATE...Cars and Bids has agreed to refund the buy fee. Will verify once credit card company issues the credit.

Hi Eric,
We're sorry to hear that you're unsatisfied with your experience on Cars & Bids.
Our multi-step bidding process is incredibly clear that bidding will immediately reach your entered bid amount. Many thousands of bids are placed every week without mistake due to our clear, concise flow.
Your substantial bid jump was within reason for the car you won, and ended competitive bidding. Reducing the agreed sale amount after removing competition is clear and obvious auction manipulation. We care deeply about auction integrity, and have zero tolerance for this behavior.
As we have discussed via chat and email, you are welcome to complete your auction purchase at the bid amount. Failure to follow through with your win is in direct violation of our Terms of Use, resulting in the forfeiture of your buyer's fee and permanent removal from Cars & Bids.
If you have any questions, you can contact us at [email protected].

Car starts but not drivable
Car delivered. Wife took it for. drive. Smelled bad and had to pull over. Got it towed to service and Boxster won't hold oil or coolant. This platform needs a way to protect buyers. The owner/mechanic said the pre-purchase inspection was negligent and documents to show repairs were 50% complete. Mechanic said don't drive it until repairs are made which will cost $2,500 just so it holds oil and coolant. Other repairs documented I got estimates on and knew I would inherit that but expected a car that was driavle - not just start.

Hi James,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We're sorry to hear that you've had a negative experience with winning your Boxster.
We've requested more information through Trustpilot so we can directly review your auction and seller. Our dedicated post-auction team has no records of reported issues with recent Boxster sales to anyone with the name James or Jim. Please provide the email address tied to your Cars & Bids account through Trustpilot, or contact us at [email protected] with more information.
While all bids are binding, and due diligence (including pre-purchase inspections, personal viewings, etc.) is to be done before bidding, we do not tolerate vehicle misrepresentation by sellers. Our team will work with you and the seller to come to a resolution on the matter, and we may decide to discontinue listings from the seller if we find them to have misrepresented the vehicle.
Please contact us with more information so we can further investigate the issue.

Cars and Bids is a horrible company
Cars and Bids is a horrible company. We agreed on a reserve. I worked for two weeks cleaning my car, taking pictures and videos for them to change it at the last minute. Thanks for wasting my time cars and bids! You've done this twice. Not a fan!
Response from Cars & BidsAug 7, 2025
Hi,
We've requested more information through Trustpilot so we can investigate your specific auction. Our valuation team works with sellers to set reasonable reserves with the information we're provided. In incredibly rare cases, after receiving more information, we have to adjust the reserve or even the ability to host the car on Cars & Bids. These cases usually involve condition issues we're not aware of initially, though there may be other causes for us to remove an auction. This is in service of our entire community, continuing to host transparently listed, interesting cars that are likely to sell.
Please respond through Trustpilot with the email address used on your Cars & Bids account so we can better investigate your experience.

Damaged 2015 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet
5/21/25, I bought a 2015 Porsche 911Turbo S Cabriolet. 5/31/25, I received the car. The next day while washing the car, I noticed a previously repaired cracked bumper. The damage was not disclosed in the ad nor by The Lemon Squad (their inspection service). I notified the seller & Cars and Bids. The seller blew me off. Cars and Bids offered no support. They said, "They would make a note of it in seller's profile." 6/5/25, I don't see anything in the seller's profile. I guess it is OK for this unscrupulous dealer K2222 Eyas to commit fraud on this site. There is NO WAY K2222 or the Lemon Squad missed this previous repair.

Hi Ed,
We're sorry to hear that your unsatisfied with your experience on Cars & Bids. Unfortunately, we are unable to physically inspect every car auctioned on the site, and encourage bidders to perform or arrange in-person inspections before bidding. While we have been in contact with the seller on your behalf, and made note internally on the seller's profile, the best way to address any concerns you have with the car is to contact the seller directly. If you have questions about how to get in touch with them or the best way to do so, we would be happy to help - please contact us via the in-site chat or at [email protected]
