I'm a student at Queen's in Canada, and I joined CareerXL when I was targeting IB and had no interviews yet. Coming from a school in Canada, I wasn't sure a US-style coaching program would translate, but the mentorship and many meetings with coaches who are in the industry helped a lot.
The program is a self-starter process; you get out of it what you put in. My mentor took me under their wing throughout recruiting and helped me understand a pivot from IB to consulting. Beyond the 1:1 coaching, it helped me actually figure out what industries I wanted to be in, which I didn't have going in. The networking outreach structure and staying on top of recruiting timelines made the whole process feel less chaotic; I always knew what was next instead of scrambling.
I ended up signing with Bain.

CareerXL Helped Me Land a Top Tier Investment Banking Offer from a Non-Target School
I'm currently a senior at a non-target school who'll be working full-time on PJT Partners' M&A team, and this outcome is only possible because of the support I received from Nick and his team at CareerXL. When I joined the program, I was halfway through my senior year. I knew that, coming from a non-target, it would be very difficult for me to secure any role in investment banking. There were few resources on campus that could provide detailed guidance for the recruiting process, and my school had a limited number of alumni working in the field. I had no idea how I would be able to secure an internship, and knew that without guidance from professionals who had successfully achieved this goal, I wouldn't be able to succeed on my own.
When I first scheduled a call with Nick, I was hesitant about the program since I could not find any information online. However, Nick was very transparent; he let me schedule several follow-up meetings with him to express my concerns and gave me the names and contact information of several of the coaches who worked in the program. These coaches were all experienced industry professionals working at top-tier banks and PE firms. Once I joined the program, Nick also went out of his way to help me with onboarding and introduced me to several of the coaches during my first day. Getting to meet all of them made me realize how much his team cared about the success of his students, and I also understood that the advice they would provide was incredibly personalized to my career goals.
I spent many months in the program preparing for interviews. I would meet regularly with coaches (5-6 times per week) to practice technical and behavioral questions, prepare for upcoming calls I had with bankers so that I could impress them and secure interviews at my dream firms, and also talk through career strategy and any other challenges I was facing during the recruiting process. These coaches were always available if I had any questions and went out of their way to share past experiences, advice, and practice mock interview questions so that I could be as prepared as possible. I had several coaches spend hours with me crafting a stock pitch from scratch, refining key behavioral stories, or drilling complex verbal case studies so that I would be the best-prepared and most differentiated candidate for any interview.
CareerXL required a lot of work. I committed between 30-40 hours at a minimum to the program during the peak of recruiting, and the coaches had a high bar for success. This was because investment banking is the most difficult career path to recruit for in undergrad, and there is no room for error.
However, this hard work and commitment allowed me to excel in the interview process. I had superdays and offers from 3 top investment banks, and ultimately signed with PJT Partners. If you are a student serious about breaking into investment banking, CareerXL is a must. The level of mentorship and support provided by Nick's team can't be matched by anything else. I would strongly recommend the program, especially to non-target students, as the coaches provide the most comprehensive preparation for investment banking recruiting that I have ever encountered

Tancrede, thanks so much for your kind words. I'm so glad we crossed paths and you were able to join the program. It's been awesome to see you grow. Over the moon that you are getting a great start at PJT in NYC!

Been in the program for about a year…
Been in the program for about a year and a half now and has been a complete game changer. Went from 0 internships to 4 with 2 in IB and 2 on buy side. Would highly recommend if you’re serious about finance.

Good Mentorship + Prep
Joined the program not knowing anything and was given good resources and mentors to help recruit for my desired field (consulting). They will not follow up with you so its on you to utilize this resource. Can be a little pricey and may not be worth it if you attend a t20 school.

Count this as an investment into your kid's future
If your child is smart and motivated but directionless, this program can make a meaningful difference.
I ended up enrolling both of my kids into CareerXL after meeting Nick. To be candid, neither of them had a clear sense of direction at the time. They were extremely capable students, but at the same time unsure of their career paths or honestly didn't think about a future after college. As a parent, it was stressful watching them drifting around without a plan.
What stood out about CareerXL was that it wasn’t motivational coaching or vague advice, my kids are fine without that. Instead each of of my children were given a clear roadmap, concrete expectations, and consistent guidance. Each mentor was professional, direct, and didn’t sugarcoat feedback. It felt like a lot at first but over time, we saw a real shift in confidence, discipline, and a sense of ownership over their future. I'm so happy that both of them ended up securing jobs in New York in both consulting and finance. Better yet, they both make over 100K each and are now financially independent. They are complete off our expense which was something that honestly felt uncertain before this program.
CareerXL is not inexpensive but in hindsight, it has probably been the best investment we’ve made for our kids since opening their first investment accounts.

Experience was more than I expected
Experience was more than I expected!
I’ve used WallStreetMastermind before but came out of my recruitment cycle unsuccessful. CareerXL helped me secure an internship at the end of the day with incredibly tailored support.
The community of students in this program is tight knit, and I’ve met countless people through the program that I am sure that I will keep in touch with throughout my career,
Even as I prepare to graduate, they are still helping me look for more opportunities and encouraging me to reach my full potential. Could not have found a better use of my time and money.

Great coaching + community
Really great - got a lot of hands on coaching and questions answered whenever I needed it. Really helped with recruiting + managing stress since I was also able to ask any qs to other students who were also recruiting
