Awful, unreliable AI search and support team (that almost doesnt respond)
We switched to Canto in fall 2025 and encountered prolonged onboarding delays, particularly with file migrations, that lasted several months. By mid-December, once onboarding was finally complete, we were excited about the AI search functionality, which had been positioned in demos as a major time-saving capability for image and video retrieval. While we did lose some features in the transition, we felt the AI search alone justified the move. However, around March 1, the AI search feature stopped working entirely. Despite numerous follow-ups from our team, it took approximately two weeks for Canto to make progress—only for the issue to remain unresolved. Now, nearly four weeks later, AI search is still not functioning. The status page inaccurately indicates that all systems are operational, and several of our emails and escalation requests have gone unanswered. We’ve also provided multiple video recordings clearly demonstrating the issue. Given the significant time and financial investment we’ve made, it’s deeply concerning that the primary feature we adopted Canto for is non-functional—especially alongside the loss of other capabilities during the transition. At this point, the lack of urgency in communication is equally troubling, with roughly one response per week since early March. We are hoping this message prompts immediate attention and resolution. If not, given the increased cost and reduced functionality, we will need to seriously consider transitioning away from Canto.
