Cannondale started in a loft above a pickle factory in 1971 in Connecticut USA making bicycle luggage and a trailer to haul kids called 'the bugger'. We were one of the pioneers of high performance bicycles by using oversized aluminium tubing which gave a lighter, stiffer ride and also a technological pioneer with products including the Lefty single sided suspension system in 1999, still fitted to bikes today.

Bought a Cannondale Neo 4, after 150 miles of light use one of the suspension bolts just randomly fell out. Clearly wasn't fitted properly to begin with. Cannondale completely washed their hands of it and directed me to a website where I could purchase a replacement bolt for £70, this is for 1 M10 bolt and 2 washers. Absolutely disgusted with this company I will never go anywhere near a Cannondale product again.

Disappointed in Cannondale
Disappointed in Cannondale – Freehub Failure After Only 400–500 Miles
I purchased a new Cannondale Topstone 3 for approximately $1,800, expecting a dependable gravel bike capable of handling everyday riding.
After only 400–500 miles, the rear freehub failed. My bike shop confirmed the problem and advised against riding the bicycle until the component was replaced.
I've now been without my bicycle for over a week while waiting for a replacement part that costs just $25. I rely on this bike for transportation, so the inconvenience has been substantial.
What makes this particularly frustrating is finding numerous reports from other Cannondale Topstone owners describing premature Formula freehub failures, including some experiencing repeated failures.
I appreciate my local bike shop's efforts to diagnose and repair the problem. My disappointment is with Cannondale for equipping an $1,800 bicycle with a component that failed so prematurely, and for a replacement process that has left me without transportation for over a week.
I expected better durability and support from a brand with Cannondale's reputation. This experience has seriously undermined my confidence in the company and made me reconsider purchasing another Cannondale.

TitleRefusing to honor lifetime warranty on cracked $4,000 Scalpel 4 frame
I purchased a $4,000 Cannondale Scalpel 4, expecting a high-quality mountain bike backed by their advertised "lifetime warranty." Just 10 months in, the frame cracked after the bike tipped over on me (I weigh 110 lbs).
My local bike shop inspected the frame and explicitly told me it is completely unsafe to ride. Despite this, Cannondale’s warranty team claims the bike was "crashed" and refuses to honor their lifetime warranty coverage. A high-end mountain bike frame cracking under a 110-lb rider during a simple tip-over is a clear manufacturing defect, not user abuse or crash damage.
It is incredibly disappointing to see a major brand dodge accountability and leave a customer stuck with an unsafe, unusable $4,000 bike. If you are buying a Cannondale expecting reliable customer support and a real warranty, think twice.

Brand New 2026 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 3 SmartSense Nightmare
I ordered a brand-new 2026 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 3 SmartSense directly from Cannondale, and it was shipped to an authorized Cannondale dealer for professional assembly. I received the bike on June 27, 2026, incredibly excited to begin training. Unfortunately, my experience went downhill from the very first ride.
Both of my rides began around 5:00 a.m., when the integrated lights were important for visibility. On both rides, the SmartSense system worked for only a small portion of the ride before shutting down. Once the system shut down, I was left stuck in a single low gear and without the integrated lights. I was forced to complete two separate 30+ mile rides, including significant climbs and fast descents, without being able to shift the bike. Losing the integrated lights during pre-dawn rides only added to my concern.
I immediately returned the bike to the authorized Cannondale dealer after the first ride. After inspecting it, I was told everything appeared to be working properly. Trusting that the issue had been resolved, I headed out on another ride. Just a few hundred meters into that ride, despite the battery showing 100% charge, the SmartSense system shut down again, causing the exact same failure. Once again, I was left stuck in a single low gear and without the integrated lights for the remainder of the ride.
From my perspective, the most serious issue was losing the ability to shift the bike. Being forced to ride in a single low gear over changing terrain, including long climbs and fast descents, significantly affected the safe operation of the bicycle and completely destroyed my confidence in it. The simultaneous loss of the integrated lighting during an early morning ride only increased my safety concerns. This is not what I expected from a brand-new premium bicycle.
After only two rides, my brand-new bike has now spent weeks sitting in an authorized Cannondale service department instead of on the road. As I write this review, it is still in the shop, and I have lost weeks of training during peak riding season while Cannondale works through the diagnosis. I even had to cancel a planned Orange County-to-San Diego ride because I no longer had confidence that the bike would reliably complete it.
After extensive troubleshooting, Cannondale concluded that the likely cause was a defective SmartSense battery and shipped a replacement battery to the dealer. During the process, I was also advised to purchase additional SmartSense batteries if I wanted to ride during my planned trip. I found that recommendation difficult to understand for a brand-new premium bicycle that had already experienced repeated failures.
Cannondale ultimately offered a $500 goodwill refund (or a $1,000 accessories credit), which I appreciate as a gesture. However, I requested that Cannondale accept the return of the bike because I had completely lost confidence in the product after experiencing repeated failures from my very first ride. That request was declined, and the proposed resolution was limited to replacing the battery.
I also want to recognize my authorized Cannondale dealer. They have been professional, responsive, and have done everything they could throughout this process. My frustration is not with the dealer—it is with the ownership experience of a brand-new premium bicycle.
As a result of this experience, I’ve already begun shopping for a replacement bike because I’ve completely lost confidence in this one. That’s an incredibly disappointing position to be in, especially considering this was my first road bike and I genuinely wanted to love it. Once Cannondale completes the warranty repair, I plan to sell the bike, and I’ll be completely transparent with any potential buyer about my experience.
When you spend thousands of dollars on a premium bicycle, you expect reliability, quality, and confidence from day one. Instead, I experienced repeated failures almost immediately, a bike that has spent weeks in the shop after only two rides, missed training opportunities, and an ownership experience that fell far short of my expectations.
I sincerely hope the replacement battery permanently resolves the issue for future owners. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend the SmartSense-equipped Synapse.

Horrible experience would cycle clear…
Horrible experience would cycle clear of these knobs they don’t advertise the quick 2 doesn’t come with a sensor anymore but still charge the same price for it. They will try to make as much profit as they can customer service is abysmal.

No Bike...No Refund
I purchased a bike directly from Cannondale back in March (03/24/26) to my local bike shop.
Nothing fancy, just an $800 bike which i saved for a good long time to buy myself something nicer than what I was riding.
Come mid April, still no bike.
Called LBS they couldn't find it in the system. OK cool, so i reach out to Cannondale directly. 24 hours for a response. Ok that's understandable.
But i was finally informed that the bike was "lost" by FedEx.
Now here's where my issues are.
1. They dont provide tracking with purchase (I dont know if that is only with purchases to LBS or not I cannot confirm)
2. They don't even send an email saying it may be "delayed". ( i would've been more understanding and patient if this were the case)
3. Phone calls are answered with "Cannondale" not the reps name....Wonder why.
So they offer me another color that I absolutely did not want. And so i requested a refund.
This started 04/10/26. I have YET to get my refund when it was promised 3-5 days. CS rep claims it was initiated that day. I called on this past Friday, was told it would be processed and be in my account this past Monday. No such luck. Talked to them again today and was informed there was an issue in accounting and they havent recieved the bike back. How is any of that my problem? I didn't lose the bike, I don't have anything to "send back".
So I will NEVER order or support this business again, and will warn everyone I know.
I ended up going with Trek, it has been a night and day experience so far AND I have the bike in my possession already if that tells you anything.

Pessima qualita’
