When a patient onboards with Winona, they are assigned to a dedicated physician who reviews their medical history and intake information and oversees their treatment. HRT works best when taken consistently over time, and for many women, it can take 10–12 weeks to notice the most significant improvements. For this reason, physicians typically wait about 10 weeks before evaluating how a patient's symptoms are responding to treatment. At that point, the physician will check in with the patient to see how they are doing. If they aren't experiencing the results they were hoping for, the doctor may be able to adjust their dosage or treatment approach based on their individual needs. Following the 10 week check-in, the next scheduled follow-up is sent at the 1 year mark. If you have questions or concerns at any point during your treatment, we encourage you to reach out to your doctor through the Patient Portal. Our doctors are always happy to provide support! We are sorry that you are not progressing in your treatment plan as fast as you had hoped, M.L., but please don't give up hope yet! We see that you just completed your Follow Up and your Winona doctor is working with you on adjusting your medications. It can sometimes take around 3 months for the body to adapt and adjust to the medications. There may be some trial and error along the way in trying to find the right dose for your symptoms. Many women begin noticing improvements within the first month of treatment, and studies show that 80% of women experience complete relief from their menopause symptoms within three months. Please don’t feel discouraged if you haven’t experienced full relief just yet, your body may still be adjusting to your treatment! After 10 weeks, your Winona physician will check in to see how you’re doing. If you’re not experiencing the results you were hoping for at that time, your doctor can review your progress and discuss whether adjustments to your dosage or treatment approach may better support your needs. We are sorry to see that you have not noticed any positive changes yet, Bekah! Unfortunately, every woman will respond differently to their HRT treatment plan, and relief is not always linear or fast. We do see that you completed your Follow Up for your Winona doctor and that you are communicating with him regarding a dose change. Sometimes increasing or lowering the dosage can help, as can other forms of HRT, such as patches. We encourage you to continue working closely with your Winona doctor, as he is dedicated to finding you the right amount and combination of hormones for your unique symptoms. That is a great question, Catherine, and we appreciate you asking! Your body is more sensitive than any lab test, and it will let you know if you're on the right track! Blood hormone levels can vary greatly from day-to-day, so blood tests are not necessarily an accurate indication of what you might need. Bloodwork can appear "perfect" on paper, but you still may have symptoms, and your body will let you know! In accordance with The Menopause Society and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Winona does not require any type of bloodwork or hormone testing to be prescribed or continue an HRT treatment plan. HRT is prescribed based on symptoms and medical history. We want you to feel better, not necessarily "fix" your lab values. HRT is not an exact science though, and it may take up to 3 months to start to see positive changes. Don't give up too soon! If you are feeling great on your prescribed dose of HRT, then your Winona doctor knows that it is working. However, if you still have symptoms after about 10-12 weeks, then an adjustment may be in order. We encourage you to work closely with your Winona doctor until you find just the right combination and dose of hormones to alleviate your symptoms. We are always happy to support you!

It can be disappointing to start your treatment plan and hope to have immediate results, only to not see any results at all. We do recognize the importance of a thorough understanding of each woman's unique situation and symptoms to provide the most effective treatment plan. Our onboarding process is designed to ask about your health history and symptoms, but you may share as much information as you would like with your Winona doctor anytime. We assure you that she is invested in finding you just the right combination and dose of hormones to find you relief. It does take around 3 months sometimes for the body to adjust to the influx of hormones and see how you will respond. We see that you just completed your Follow Up for your Winona doctor to gauge your progress so far. Thank you!
