Unsatisfactory controls and knowledge…
Unsatisfactory controls and knowledge base. I was prescribed DHEA & Estriol by one of their “doctors”. Immediately upon arrival, I researched the meds, as most people do. Turns out there’s an FDA drug interaction between those two drugs. I sent a message to my assigned “doctor” and had no response even three days later. I then contacted customer support and they advised they couldn’t help me as they are not allowed to give out medical advise. I then contacted customer support customer support again and requested cancellation of my program and a full refund from this debacle. They responded that they can not give any refunds because meds are personally prescribed to the individual (whatever that means?). So now I’m out a bunch of $ and am going to switch to a real, in-person physician. This situation has made it impossible for me to trust Winona or any other online medical process. UPDATE: “Doctor” responded and just said they’re ok to take together. That’s it. They gave no further explanation, no discussion of blood work monitoring, nothing.

Thank you for sharing your review, TBMaine. While we cannot locate an account for you under your name as it is listed here, we do take reviews seriously. There is a lot of confusion and misinformation circulating out there regarding menopause care and HRT. We know that can be frustrating! DHEA and Estriol ( a form of Estrogen) are powerful medications that can work extremely well for menopause symptoms. Like all such medications, there can be side effects and risks, especially when taken together. DHEA is a hormone precursor that is broken down into estrogen and testosterone, providing a safe and gentle method of increasing testosterone levels. Since DHEA can also raise estrogen levels, it's important to consider when developing an HRT plan that includes estrogen. In order to avoid an issue where someone ends up taking excessive estrogen, Winona physicians takes the estrogen contribution from DHEA into account when determining the appropriate estrogen dose. This ensures that DHEA and estrogen replacement can be used together safely. DHEA is safe at 50 mg or less per day, and for most women taking DHEA for symptom relief during the menopause transition, even a 25 mg dose has been found to be effective. Winona never prescribes DHEA in doses higher than 50 mg. We hope that helps to clarify any confusion, but as we cannot verify if you are a patient, please contact our Patient Services Department at [email protected]. They will be happy to assist you further!
