I ordered a Notifier FSP-951R-IV Remote Test Photoelectric Smoke Detector for approximately $250. The part turned out to be incorrect, which I understand was not your fault, and I returned it. I was then informed that the detector was considered “used” simply because the address knob had been turned, and my refund was denied. The detector was never installed, wired, programmed into a system, or placed into service. The address knob was only turned while determining whether the device was the correct part for the application. I was offered a refund of only 50% of the purchase price, which I do not believe is reasonable under these circumstances. The detector was returned in essentially new and unused condition, and adjusting the address setting does not constitute actual use of the device. Total BS business practice.

In this situation, the device was purchased in new condition and had been returned to us altered from its original factory condition. Because these are life safety products, we have to be very careful about the condition of anything we put back into inventory. Once a part has been altered, the warranty is voided and we cannot resell it as new. We understand this may not have been the outcome you were hoping for, which is why we offered a 50% refund as an effort to help resolve the situation.
