My first time ordering experience with Brownell’s worked out fine, but it was kind of weird. Here’s a timeline from placing my order to delivery: Sunday I placed an order Combining lower price, a promo code and military discount I got a price about $50 less than the nearest competitor. Fantastic! I quickly received an email confirming the order. Monday Order status shows shipped on Sunday. (untrue) No email confirming shipping and no tracking number. Tuesday No change. Tuesday evening No change. Credit card shows I was charged when I placed my order on Sunday but... It also shows a charge reversal from Brownell’s today – Why? Tuesday very late in the evening Received a Brownell’s email with an invoice dated today showing paid in full. Brownell’s order status says shipped. (untrue) Still no shipping confirmation email. Wednesday morning Received a Brownell's email with a USPS tracking number. Package is awaiting carrier pickup and has an estimated delivery day of Saturday. Bank still shows original charge and charge reversal. Wednesday afternoon USPS still hasn’t picked up the package. USPS no longer has a delivery date estimate. Bank still shows original charge and charge reversal. Thursday Checked with USPS and package is on the way. Expected delivery is now Monday. Checked my credit card and both the original charge and the reversal are gone . Friday Package still in route. Estimated delivery still Monday. Original charge reappeared on credit card dated the day the order was placed. Is this The Twilight Zone? Tuesday USPS delivered my order All is well and good It bothers me a bit that Brownell's’ order status falsely claimed ‘shipped’ for three days. It bothers me more that Brownell's apparently charged me, reversed the charge and then recharged(?) me. Would I shop Brownell's again? Being aware of erroneous shipping data the first few days and the weird charge, charge reversal and recharge thing, yes, if I found what I wanted and could again get such a good price. Brownell's gets a five star rating because I found their site easy to navigate, they had what I wanted, every product eligible for a military discount shows that discounted price. (I don’t have to wait until checkout.) I got an excellent price and once my order actually shipped and their tracking data mirrored the USPS. Brownell's gets a three star rating because of the false shipping data and the odd activity on my credit card. I’m going with four stars simply because I’m willing to shop there again

Brownells is overall a solid company and I'm having great difficulty believing that most of these one-star reviews are genuine. Overall I've found them to be just about as reliable as anyone around and my only serious complaint about them is that their pricing tends to be on the high side. It pays to shop around. That said, they have just about as good an inventory as anyone these days and the merchandise I've gotten from them has been flawless. They carry specialty tools that are hard to find from most other retailers. The only time I had to return something it was because I accidentally bought an item I already had and i didn't need a spare. The return process was simple and painless. I have contacted them for support by phone and found them to be quite helpful and knowledgeable. Some other minor frustrations I wish they would fix: I don't always receive a notification when an order ships. Also, when you place a backorder with them, they don't provide any estimate of when the order will ship.

Got my pistol order fairly quickly and in great condition. Customer service was very courteous and helpful. My only complaint would be that when I place my order on the weekend, I didn't get an email with my order number until Monday.

I’m giving Brownells 4 stars not because their products suck. They actually have very quality products. I just have terrible time ordering on that old looking website. I hope they upgrade that thing into something nicer in the future. Didn’t had pleasant user experience!

I received a order of springs for a 1911A1 Wednesday before last. The package was not sealed and a spring was missing. I contacted Brownell Thursday about the issue and was told a different department would call me back. 8 days later i have had no one from Brownell contact me about this. Each time I have contacted them about it I get the same answer about someone will contact me. Today i finally got thru to someone to help. in defensce of Brownell they were afftected earlier this week to storm damage and did not have power for a couple of days.

Ordered an $80 item. A week later it was marked delivered but it never arrived. I followed their customer service guidelines for addressing shipping issues which directed me to call their customer support staff. They said they aren't responsible for shipping and wouldn’t offer a replacement nor refund then said “sorry for your inconvenience.” This is poor business practice, I’m taking my business to Midway from now on. Unfortunately they don’t offer the part I need/ordered. UPDATE: Brownells contacted me a few days after filing a written customer concern via email to their support staff. They sent me a new part at no charge. Turns out that USPS delivered the part to the wrong address so I was able to finally get the original part that I ordered then return the replacement that was offered. I’m changing my rating from 1 to 4 stars to reflect Brownells “about face” on customer service even if it was as stated “a one-time replacement.” It would have been 5 stars if they had used this customer service policy approach during my initial contact with them. Fault here lies squarely with USPS (not me nor Brownells). I just don’t like Brownells customer service policies.

Decent selection, but will wait for coupons to purchase. Customer service isn't up to par compared to other retailers.

It was a pleasure doing business with this company. Materials arrived as scheduled and in good condition. I have shopped at this business twice and it has been good so far
