Wish I could give them 0 stars. I would not recommend these people. RUN and don't look back!
Boxelder prepared my 2023 tax return and included two W-2s from the wrong year (2022) while omitting my actual 2023 W-2. The tax year is printed right on the form. Because of this, the IRS disallowed my withholding credits, my refund was never issued, and my account was flagged for lien/levy action.
When I notified co-founder Tom Conradt about the errors, he responded that my email was “not sufficient in terms of credibility or specificity” rather than investigating his own firm’s mistake. I’ve spent months correcting their errors myself, filing an amended return and complaints with the IRS and DORA.
They market themselves as having tax lawyers and CPAs, but my return was prepared with apparently no CPA review despite a CPA being CC’d on my emails.
AVOID THIS FIRM!

Canceled consult without talking to me
I signed up for a free consult and gave a brief synopsis of my problem with an audit in the sign-up form. They canceled the free consult and said they wouldn't take my case. I was requesting advice as to tax precedent and whether it was worth fighting the IRS. I guess don't ask their help for IRS audit issues.

If you're seeking tax filing support
If you're looking to simply be a number. If you're inspired by condescending conversations. If you welcome repeated micro managing the accuracy of documents... Like...what state your filing in...If you can't the basics right, what else are you doing incorrect -ly?? Well now, you've just irritated them, and you better sign off on those corrections IMMEDIATELY, or you're chastised like a petulant child. If you have time and energy to review ad nauseam what you know to be the previously discussed issues and timeline, without ANY progress, and endless zoom meetings to "reset". If you are willing to accept YOU are to blame for any and all delays. If you appreciate being told that accountant leadership is "Very busy" during tax season, and unless you have"signed" there may be delays"-Despite paying $500 fee to begin process- BTW, no delay accepting the fee! If your employer allows you you unlimited flexibility to leave work for said Zoom meetings, where key players are MIA...Incidentally I'm a frontline healthcare worker, who like so many, have become punch drunk over the accumulated stress in the past 2+ years. Lastly, if you desire to have your " file closed", without warning, or any updates as to the status of your case processes... Then this is the PERFECT agency for YOU!! The only consolation is that, I've since learned this is a resounding theme, for others who have shared the same experience. Sigh..So, I guess I shouldn't take this personally? Don't worry, if you have second thoughts, the dismissive/ patronizing termination letter, invites you to reach out with any questions or needs! Next stop BBB ( Be advised client reviews are not included in overall rating) Word of mouth is EVERYTHING.

Kimberly,
I'm simply stunned by this inaccurate review. I'm not even sure where to begin in response to this level of untruth and vitriol. Suffice to say, none of your accusations or claims are true, and the level of animosity included in this review is simply unprofessional and not how we conduct ourselves with clients. Accordingly, we have flagged this review to be removed as inaccurate and defamatory.
The truth is that my office performed your case review quickly and accurately, then when we tried for weeks to try and communicate the next steps - filing your missing tax returns - we were simply unable to contact you. You provided my office with an email address, but then said you "never check it" and you always need a phone call following up an email. We did that, but your voicemail was constantly full, and you rarely answered your phone. You then asked that we text you, and we were simply unable to accommodate this. We have reasonable expectations that our clients review and respond to email and take or return our phone calls. This is also clearly detailed in Section 3 of the work agreement you signed.
When we realized it would be impossible to communicate effectively, we advised you of such and refunded your money. Based off this review, we're very glad we decided to part ways.

Tom Conradt was unprofessional!
Tom Conradt was extremely unprofessional AND used profanities on two separate calls! Called to clarify cost of their services since he rushed me off the phone the first time stating he had an "important" call to take both times. The second call he DID NOT want to clarify anything before I paid $250 for previous year tax review. stating "You need to make payment". Why do I need to make a payment before finding out cost of filing the return, what services are available, etc. Seems his focus was only to rushing me into dropping money before making sure the customer was informed enough to make a decision. Definitely do not want to work with this firm after this experience with him!

Stay Away From this Firm
Stay away from this firm. I was late and called in to reschedule and one of the partner said no come in now. So I drove about 30 mins away and when I got there I apologized to the partner and he says time is money. And I said if it's a problem then we can part ways now and he said ok.

Mr. Reyes,
We request that our prospective clients show up on time to their scheduled appointments, especially on a Saturday afternoon, but we also understand that life happens.
In your case, when you finally showed up an hour and a half late (you didn't call - we called you) and we asked that you respect our time, instead of apologizing, you bluntly stated "Traffic, bro. If that's a problem we can part ways now." You noted this yourself in your "review".
We agreed, and you left, which I think was best for both of us. Unfortunately, Trustpilot has somehow deemed this "review" relevant, although you were never a client, and we've now had to spend more time on this regrettable incident. Frankly, it's remarkable that you would show up an hour and a half late to an appointment and somehow think it's our fault.
We wish you the best with a firm that is more suited to your level of professionalism.

Unsatisfied Client
Yea how many of these good reviews were made before the buisness was actually taken care of, I know they offered to pay me to leave them a good review so it made things sound even better for me, so to be so on your side to get you out of debt they have put me much further in debt, which I will continue to pursue my money until they make right of it, that money could have went directly to the IRS instead of these guys. Legit? I don't think so you don't call somebody out of blue and demand more money like another $2500.00 and threaten to close your case if you dont pay, well thats wrong and I know I deserve my money back, cause nothing was done with the $4000.00 I paid, even the lady at the IRS said she never spoke to any of them.

Todd, after a thorough review of our detailed case notes, emails and work agreement, there is simply nothing in your review that is even remotely true. It's unfortunate that Trustpilot does not allow for a dispute of the validity of a review, because if they did, this review would be removed, just like your reviews on other websites.
