My husband and I got Married in 2019. We budgeted out our expenses for the wedding and decided to put the expenses on the credit cards. We put together a plan to payoff the credit cards in 18 months, which is when the promotional rates expired. 7 months into our plan the pandemic shut everything down causing my husbands hours to be severely reduced. Overnight we could no longer afford to pay our rent and necessities and stay on top of our plan to pay off the creditors. We stayed positive through the anxiety and hoped that as the pandemic passed my husband’s hours would be restored. We used our savings to cover part of the rent, groceries, car payments, pay the min on the card etc. We figured our 18-month plan would go longer but once the pandemic ended, we could get back to our plan. 6 months into the pandemic our savings were depleted. We were stressed. The pandemic would just not end, we had tried everything to stay current but faced reality we could not continue with payments anymore. I have never felt so much anxiety or uncertainty. We knew we needed help, but we were prideful. It took us time to put our pride aside and start looking for debt relief information.
