You have to subscribe to try because they only allow 300k tokens for trial and that is not enough for even starting your project up. So I subscribed and found out my website that compiles fine in my computer and shows fine in my server has an incompatible folder structure. If you have a backend API server, the system is not able to connect to it. So I wasted my tokens for the month just arguing with the agent and it was a complete waste. Nothing worked. No refunds, no help.
Response from Bolt.newSep 30, 2026
Sorry to hear the trial didn't give you enough room to get going, and that the folder structure and backend API connection caused this much friction after subscribing. That's not the experience we want, and we'd like to actually look into what happened with your project.
I can't see enough here to locate your account directly, so I've requested more information through Trustpilot, if you can share those details, we'll dig in properly and see what can be done.

Wasted money
Had the same experience as other users. Had it build an app and it just kept draining the tokens as it tried to fix what should have been coded right in the first place. Only good for very small apps like landing pages etc.

Burned my money without result
Gave it a simple project at first, which went okay but got me into subscription. Then gave it a more complex prompt. It was burning through 1/4 of the monthly tokens to build an empty folder. Repeated this 3 times with no result at all.
I contacted support to ask for a token refund but never got an answer.
So on simple projects it might work, but if anything goes wrong, you and your money are lost.
I will use the little rest of the tokens and then unsubscribe. Don't fall for them!

The ai constantly crashes
The ai constantly crashes, the ai tookens are too small, the user tokens are gobbled up faster than a starving pirranha. You project will be trashed lots of times due to the bad interface / ai - so 70% of your tokens are used getting the ai to repair the problems it caused.
Helpful advice - ge t another ai to give you better prompts but don't oveload bolt - it will kill your project.
Good job iI actually downloaded zip file of the code a week before major issues kicked in but then the reall problems started - bolt didn.t like some tsx file bigger than 10k without a frsh browser / full ai tokens - it went off hallucinating thinking it was replicating modals but failed miserably. Verdict - Nothing complex, you'll be ok ( 1 page - lol )

Too early to judge !
Too early to judge !! Just started on the pro plan through appsumo. I’ve used the free plan before and it wasn’t too bad !! So moved now to pro plan mainly for DB and hosting integrations. First app on paid plan first problem. Built the app with no issues until I went to publish it. Auto ssl certification problem, which I think is affecting all EU region. In the discord, there was no real support, and found more people having the same problem over these last couple of days with no resolution as yet. Emailed support and yet to hear back from them!! This is a high priority incident affecting many people and yet, I don’t even see an announcement in their comms channels or within the app. This is very poor customer service!! I don’t think I’ll be hanging around there too long especially regarding excessive token consumption and their rolling over policy -
They want to really up their game if they want to stay in this vibe coding space, as more and more upcoming platforms offering this service. Hope things will change, because the platform itself, the UI, integration, all good. Didn’t play much with their LLMs but I didn’t have any issues building simple apps but I haven’t tried to build full stack apps yet, will test that later then update this review. All in all I’d say it’s ok, but customer service is the most important aspect for any business.
update: got a response from support, pretty good actually. I was impressed with the quality of support from Erica. Party resolved my issue regarding the publishing of my site. Can now (somtimes) view my site, sometimes I can other times I can't. Apprently it depends on your ISP. Some rate Bolt very low and block access or display a security warning preventing access. Apparently, they are working hard to resove this reputation issue with some ISPs. So we could conclude that this issue is out of their hand insome ways. I'm not sure if my issue was only related to this particular ISP issue? I have the feeling some other times is due to the auto ssl certification?? also sometimes depends on your region (EU in my case)??? not sure about this though..If someone has more knowledge about this, it will be usefull if you could comment or a new thread to explain. Happy new year !!

Downhill since Q2/2025
Until Q1 of 2025, bolt.new was working pretty well. It was the #1 of these vibe coding tools. I use them for mockups, dummies, demos, proof of concepts.
But update after update, bolt got worse, more expensive and slower. This went so far, that since Q3 (even before v2) bolt got so bad, my daily demos went from up to 10, down to 0. This is not exaggerating. It fails creating simple structures of folders. it fails to reference internal files it has created itself with wrong paths. It keeps stuck in error loops. It says it init or edited code, but there are literally 30+ fully empty projects that have wasted over 100mil of tokens for me.
This tool is now practically useless, yet you can still pay hundrets of dollars without a single warning about how broken their tool is.

Experienced heavy user, giving up
As an experienced heavy user, using this for months from many small components to attempting to build larger form interfaces. I can say you cant build anything of use purely with bolt. It's about as useful as a gimmicky toy or small code generator. I got stuck in a sunk cos fallacy, I spent around 200 million tokens to get more and more AI slop on a simple 5 step form. Upgrading the subscription to "almost save the project" digs the hole deeper until every prompt got a hallucination or lost work, revert stopped working so i was paying to "fix" bugs and create more, or silently lose huge chunks of work that took hours. Exporting to hand fix the code is like like opening a suitcase full of dogsh**t spaghetti mess that will take hours to unpick.

Potentialy good app, bad costumer support and features
The good- nice interface, most of the the time easy changes can be applied. best suited for engineers or simple creations.
The bad- token usage and costumer support. I have a problem with connecting to GitHub and therfore tracking chnages of the project. tried to reach them about a month now, nothing happened. Really frustrating since the agent makes changes it doesnt explain beforehand and now i'm in a neverending loop of trying to fix things with him. On the other hand, my credit card expired- I got 3 emails from them whithin a day.
