I tried BT and found that for what the platform is it is very expensive. I wasn't getting near the response I was hoping for and even optimized it at one point. I received way more traction from Face Book Market Place on the different/relative boating and groups. I sold my boat from a FB listing. I regret using BT because I could have saved $324.

Hi Jim, thank you for sharing your feedback. We looked into your account and see that you received 11 leads. We did also block 3 leads that were identified as spam by our trust and safety team. While we have many sellers who successfully sell their boats on boat trader, we recognize that depending on the boat and listing, the out come may be different.

I sold through Facebook marketplace absolutely no contacts or inquiries from boat trader. I should receive a refund

Hi Brent, we appreciate your feedback and are glad you sold your boat although we're disappointed it was not on Boat Trader. We noticed photos weren't added to your listing until a few days after it went live, photos are key to getting views, so even a short delay can impact early results. Our team also sends out listing recommendations to help boost performance, as we know how important an optimized listing is.

Generated very few leads. FB Marketplace much better tool for $70k boat

Thank you for sharing your experience selling your boat on Boat Trader. At higher price points, buyers tend to take more time researching before reaching out, and we've recently rolled out features like urgency indicators and listing engagement signals (views, saves, new-to-market status) on Boat Detail Pages to help serious buyers act faster and connect with sellers sooner. We appreciate the feedback.

It is a long process, working through actual prospects form the lookers. I know just part of the process.

Thank you for your feedback. Selling a boat often involves sorting through interest and inquiries before finding the right buyer. If you'd ever like assistance along the way, our team is always available to provide guidance on listing optimization, photos, pricing, and other best practices to help maximize visibility and engagement. Thank you for choosing Boat Trader.

I upgraded the ad, used the price you suggested and got very little to no responses. I used the same photographs on Facebook Marketplace and sold it within 2 weeks having multiple offers. I feel like I paid the fees and nothing happened. I had a total of 3 inquiries, with one of them asking me to rent it to an 18 year old for a fishing tournament.

Too expensive and the automatic extending and additional cost is a bit pushy. Not to mention that canceling the advertisement seems to be designed to be confusing and simply take more money from people.
Response from Boat TraderJun 22, 2026
Thank you for sharing. Our listings are enrolled in automatic renewal to help prevent interruptions in ad visibility while a boat is still for sale, and any optional listing enhancements are always selected separately by the seller. Customers can always remove their automatic payment information at any time through the app, mobile browser, or desktop browser. If a boat has sold or a seller would like to remove their listing, our Customer Support team is available to help ensure the listing is properly closed and updated across our marketplace. If you have any questions about your account, billing, or listing status, please contact our team at 1-800-334-6541 and we'd be happy to assist. We appreciate your feedback and will continue looking for ways to make our processes clearer and easier for sellers.

Communication through the app with potential buyers wasn’t as easy as using text or Messenger. 80% of the interest in my boat came through Marketplace, which was free to advertise on. Wish I hadn’t spent the $300 on Boat Trader/Boats.com.
