The pillow case is wonderfully soft but, most important, my hair is never affected. Previously, with other pillow cases, in the morning my hair was often in funny kinks and needed a lot more attention.

I do love these pillow cases. If you launder them correctly, emphasis on CORRECTLY, they will last a while. I have had my set for over a year. Silk can break down easily if it is not washed according to instructions, but they can be washed in the gentle cycle in cold water. The purpose of buying 3 and getting the 4th one free is essential because the more you have, the longer they will last. I do wash them in the gentle cycle of my washing machine with a very gentle soap and hang dry them. If that is too much work for you, then these are not for you. I notice a slight temperature difference, but not by much. I do notice clearer, less wrinkled skin when I wake up, and my hair looks better after sleeping on silk. Satin is not silk; do not make that mistake!

First off, these pillow cases are very hot, especially in the summer. Second, in order to maintain the softness, I have to handwash, and more importantly, iron in order to bring back the silkiness. And they have done nothing for my face or hair, after using for a year. But, they are lovely and well made and make nice gifts, even with the above minuses.
