Builders FirstSourceReviews of bldr.com

AWFUL company- tried 2xs to get pricing - doing 2 decks and an outbuilding - both times had zero response.....do not waster your time with this company. I called another company and had pricing within 2 hours and the order delivered 2 days later. Builders FirstSource was a 100% waste of time - on both occasions. I don't know who they have a 1.7 star average review...should be ZERO stars.

Why am I not surprised that my review is not the only negative one? Five years ago I ordered a sliding glass door and other products. The door was supposed to be black on the outside and white on the inside. It came white, black and tan. They said they don't make the colors I ordered. They didn't bother notifying me or the contractor about this and made it the way they wanted along with not including parts such as a lock. They sent someone out who put up a piece of cheap plastic to cover part of the tan part. It immediately started falling apart. I asked him about the threshold. He said he wasn't hired to replace it. At least 100 phone calls and emails later over the years of being transferred to various voice mails and being told it wasn't their job and referring to yet another outside company. I was also told just to paint the tan color. I finally got a hold of someone I thought was going to assist in making this right. She sent another cheap plastic cover that does not fit and a different lock that does not connect the door to the frame. More phone calls and I was told to send another email to a 3rd party company. Months later I still not have heard back. This company is filled with nothing but incompetent and lazy employees that cannot take responsibility for the products they sale.

This company is awful. The wood quality is terrible. The people that work there are completely untrained or just have no work ethic. There was one girl at the front that was actually nice. The rest of them floated around like zombies with no smiles on their faces, this place is overpriced and management is completely useless. I talked to one manager that just blew me out of the water with just his entire demeanor and I could care less attitude. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this Orville guy needs to get fired. I highly doubt this company will last long anyway.

Tried to get a quote for i-joists and was told they are only working with "existing" customers, not new ones. Odd since they just purchased Alpine Lumber here in Colorado which was good at delivering the required products.

Avoid this company at all costs. The service was appalling—rude interactions, zero communication, repeated mistakes in both ordering and scheduling, and absolutely no accountability. What should have been a straightforward patio door purchase turned into a nine-month ordeal involving three separate orders, lost items, incorrect replacements, and consistently disrespectful treatment. I’d rather buy a budget door from Lowe’s than ever deal with this company again. Consider this a warning. While I usually believe “you get what you pay for,” these doors were far from cheap and came with nothing but frustration, errors, and dismissive customer service.

Builders First Source in Brainerd Minnesota. Apparently every roofer that gets materials from them is installing wet shingles as I had my delivered and so much water in the shingles that it was running down my underlayment causing dangerous conditions. Apparently there are a bunch of piece of crap Roofing installers throwing on a bunch of wet shingles thinking they're going to dry out when all you do is capture moisture and Future Mold issues. Manager said that's the first time he's ever heard of it, WTF, seriously. We sell truck loads of it and so that makes it okay. Lame, never again.

I put together a take off list in an Excel spreadsheet for an ADU project and sent it to my local BFS location. This was over a month and a half ago and after many attempts to get them to quote out this job... Nothing! I then got on their chat system, explained the situation and submitted the spreadsheet takeoff directly to the "mother ship". Two weeks have elapsed and nothing... My local lumber yard had a quote back to me in 2 days.

They don’t even deserve one star. Every door has issues motors out hinges wrong, especially for French doors. I just got five doors and I can’t even get the door handle on. It was drilled out wrong nothing but problems. I wish my boss would stop buying from this crap Company horrible quality control. Also I got a French door in the header was 2 inches bigger than the threshold.
