This “organization” is less than honest. Their fees schedule is hardly client beneficial. They are cash collectors! They’ll take your money all day long and process your digital coins as well and charge you unreasonable fees for sales AND purchases! Hardly an upstanding customer friendly company! Distributions are hardly timely. They will make claims over the phone then give excuses for their “distribution” team - whom they will not let you speak to directly. Ana and the “Front Office” become the scapegoats who field excuses the administration doesn’t want to face.

BitcoinIRA is a fee trap, plain and simple. Depositing money was insanely easy. Withdrawing it has been one of the most frustrating financial experiences I’ve had. I made a large deposit and over time realized I wasn’t losing money because of Bitcoin — I was losing money because of fees and terrible execution. Setup fees, trading fees, monthly fees (charged to a card AND deducted), ACH fees, wire fees, transfer fees, termination fees… it never ends. You’re getting hit from every direction. The spot prices are awful. When you sell, you’re forced to accept a bad price again. Now the exit: I initiated a full withdrawal over two weeks ago. I was promised 48 hours multiple times. Instead, it’s been constant follow-ups, mandatory video calls, “compliance reviews,” and delays. It feels intentionally burdensome. Easy in, hard out. On top of that, once you finally escape, they tack on termination fees, ACH fees, transfer fees — and whatever else they can justify from their master services agreement. If you’re considering a Bitcoin IRA, read the fine print very carefully. In my experience, this is not about helping you hold BTC tax-advantaged — it’s about slowly bleeding you through friction and fees. If you truly need crypto in an IRA, I’d wait until this space is more normalized. Right now, platforms like this are extremely expensive lessons. I strongly regret using BitcoinIRA or stick with an ETF in your traditional IRA.

Hi Michael, we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our offerings for future clients. We do want to clarify some items you mentioned and hope it helps. We are an IRA provider, which means that we follow strict rules and regulations to ensure your retirement savings are as secure as possible. Believe it or not, but stringent protocols such as video verification and compliance reviews keep clients' assets safe and that is our highest priority. We don't deny that our fees are higher than some other options out there, but you get what you pay for. We have worked hard to lower our fees and continue to do so while also being able to provide military grade storage, up to $250M custody insurance, dedicated support, etc. These fees are shared with every client when they sign up. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!

They don't warn you when you are being charged or where it's coming from. If your payment fails they take it out of your bitcoin without telling you, even if you have other assets. I signed many forms specifying that I wanted to pay fees from my credit card. They charged me from a random processor name called "Digital Trust" which I didn't recognize and couldn't find the source of with GREAT effort. This processor shows up online as a scam charge. Obviously I flagged it as fraud. Rather than send me an email about this, for over a year, they took hundreds of dollars of my bitcoin. They said they tried to call me, but that is a pathetic excuse. They don't let you update your phone number easily, and they have my correct email and mailing address. How hard is it to send an email with a statement, upcoming charge, or payment failure? I got none of those. I closed my account not too long after being charged for this year, and they wouldn't give me a partial refund. It's hundreds of dollars. Other financial companies do this without you asking. If you close a credit card with an annual fee for instance, they give you back the difference by default because they have the ethical and business sense not to charge you for something you are not using. They also communicate via email or regular mail on important information. I bet these companies will exist much longer than BitcoinIRA. BIRA trading fees are ridiculous to boot. It cost me $1000 just one year to buy into a few positions, that's more than 1/10th of what was there. If you want to hold bitcoin with your retirement funds, there are better ways where you have more control, custody, and reasonable fees.

Hi Sirene, Thanks for sharing your feedback, it helps us improve our offerings. Regarding your billing charges, according to our records we've sent you multiple notifications with Digital Trust listed. Digital Trust is our trust provider, which you can also see on our website. We would be happy to walk you through them and we'll be reaching out shortly to address your concerns. You can also call us directly at 877-936-7175. Thank you!

I have been trying since 8/4 to get a transfer_distribution. There is always a reason it is rejected.
Response from Bitcoin IRASep 8, 2025
Hi Thomas, we genuinely regret that your experience didn’t meet expectations and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. We reached out to make it right and got your distribution through and we hope you can understand that all these issues led to unexpected delays we could not avoid. The form was incorrectly filled out and led to a delay, along with some technical difficulties regarding the call scheduling. Please know that our primary focus is to help Americans save for retirement while adhering to IRS, DOL, and other federal and state regulations to safeguard client assets. Our clients’ security is our #1 priority; therefore video ID calls are necessary to ensure that your account and requests are safe. If you need anything else, you can reach us at 877-936-7175. Thank you!

Watch out for FEEs and Customer Service. They have the highest fees and it will eat away at your returns. Started out with 0ver $8000 investment by 3.5 years my account balance was down to 7000 despite BITCOIN nearly doubling from when I purchased it. They charged me $1150 in fees over the period and at the end I had less than what I started with. I realize investing is risky I get that but that's not the issue here. It's the high fees that are hidden and customer service. There really needs to be more regulation of these companies. If you want to diversify out of the dollar and stocks we are left with these sharks who take your money and charge you high fees so your balance keeps going down and down instead of increasing with the market. Also, when you call customer service to inquire, a person answers the call at 1st and explains it to you but the minute you start delving deeper into the fees, they hung up on me. When I called back they put me in their call back queue and abruptly disconnected the call before I could leave a message. Someone called me back but when I mentioned my name, the person hung up on me immediately. I was not rude, just asking questions. It's almost as though they flagged me and won't answer my calls. Same thing has happened on two separate occasions. Unacceptable. BEWARE. I have not tried to get a distribution yet but this experience is making me nervous. I've read the comments from others. I actually wanted to add more money to my account when I called but now I am thinking twice. I am going to look elsewhere. I am a real investor using their services and I am nervous based on they way I am being treated and my account balance keeps dwindling despite crypto gains. Beware and do your research before investing your $$ with them.

Hi Vee, we're very sorry to hear that you had a less than stellar experience, but your comment on our fees being hidden is misleading. We provide every new applicant with our fee schedule upon application submission and we go over them in our introductory call. While we understand our fees may not be for everyone, simply put you get what you pay for and may find this out too late. We pride ourselves in offering one of the only vertically-integrated American-based trust companies and qualified custody with 100% military-grade cold storage and up to $250M custody insurance. We take all feedback very seriously and we've shared it with the team. We've worked hard to bring down our fees and we continue to do all that we can to improve our offerings. We'd like to follow up with you but we cannot identify an account based on your name provided here. Please reach out to us at 877-936-7175 and we'd be happy to help make this right.

Bitcoin IRA charged me an initial set up fee, wallet charges, annual charge, close account fee, required transfer fees … for my initial $5,000 investment; I have spent $1500 in fees in 3 years. There are more competitive options available. As far as safety; they all use the same 3rd party for authentication and verification. There is nothing unique here but the fees. Look elsewhere.
Response from Bitcoin IRAApr 28, 2025
Hi Christine, we regret to read your feedback here as it's simply misleading. While we may use the same verification tool, this is one very small part of safety. At BitcoinIRA, security is our #1 priority for our clients. We pride ourselves in offering one of the only vertically-integrated American-based trust companies and qualified custody with 100% military-grade cold storage and up to $250M custody insurance. While we understand our fees may not be for everyone, simply put you get what you pay for and may find this out too late. Regarding our fees, we provide every new applicant with our fee schedule. We also did not charge you a setup fee as a courtesy to you. Updated: I also just spoke to our service team and you have not been paying a wallet fee and we just credited you for the $240 annual fee. We wish you the best in your future endeavors!

Charge $300 to close an account and $35 for check/ach/wire. These fees are not highlighted when signing up (not available anywhere on the site). Everything is manual docusign. Liquidations take time. Lots of fees for everything. Stay away
Response from Bitcoin IRAMar 14, 2025
Hi Diziet, first off we are sorry to lose you as a valued client but your claim that your fees were not highlighted is simply not true. We send every client a full disclosure of fees when they submit their application and we review the fees in the sales call prior to your account setup. We genuinely regret that your experience didn’t meet expectations and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. Please know that our primary focus is to help Americans save for retirement while adhering to IRS, DOL, and other federal and state regulations to safeguard client assets (which means docusigns, etc.) If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly at 877-936-7175. Have a great day!
