Thank you for your question! 🐿️🐦 Squirrels can be very clever, but there are a few effective ways to keep them away from the feeder: If using a pole, install the feeder in an open area at least 5 ft (1.5 m) above the ground and 10 ft (3 m) away from trees, bushes, or other jumping points. Add a cone-shaped baffle (at least 17 inches in diameter) or a similar barrier below the feeder to stop squirrels from climbing up. Our Birdfy Feeder Pole includes a spring-loaded squirrel baffle that uses the squirrel’s own weight to gently shake and prevent climbing. Using a metal protective cage or anti-spill mesh can also help reduce damage caused by squirrels. Some users also place a smooth plastic tube or metal cone on hanging ropes, or even set up a separate squirrel feeding station to distract them.
