I have only had three days so far with using your Bike Tow Leash On my adult trike and so far I am delighted. I feel much safer than what I was doing previously. My dog is enjoying the experience much more as well. It mounted easily and appears very secure. Thank you,
Mamadakk
Unfortunately my dog does not like it. Whenever I hook her up, she backs out of her harness and runs off.

Your dog is apparently frightened of the bike. Perhaps one fell on her at some point. It sounds like you need to start with treats and just walking the bicycle next to your dog multiple times giving treats along the way until the fear is gone.

I loved the idea of the bike tow leash, however, in the end, I only used it a couple of times as I was anxious that I would overrun our dog. I liked her having control, and the ability to stop whenever she wanted to. I worry that overzealous owners could unintentionally abuse a dog by bicycling too far without allowing the dog to rest and have water. My 3 star review reflects these concerns as opposed to there being any problem with the product itself, which appears to be well designed.

Unfortunately while I really like the concept of the bike tow leash, it was not practical for our very very strong 100 pound golden doodle, who probably needed more training, to not run after things that interest him! Therefore it was not safe for the person riding the bicycle as the dog could easily pull over the entire bike. However, if you have a well trained smaller dog, it is a wonderful device and I would highly recommend it!!!

Hi Constance, Sorry to hear you are having some control issues with your large dog. We use the BTL with much larger dogs up to 185 pounds. So, I may be able to help optimize your installation for better control. Please send photos of your installation on the bike and also with your dog to [email protected]

The leash was ok but does not Safely support dogs over 75 lbs. the dogs are just too strong to safely ride along side of bike. Not enough control. I’m sure it would be ok for smaller dogs.

While it worked for a time, there was one accident in which the bike hit a pothole and the toe leash created an additional factor and there was a spill. Dog won't go near it since.

She just doesn’t like being beside the bike. Having trouble getting her to enjoy it. Almost wonder if she wouldn’t prefer the front tire
Response from Bike Tow LeashMay 13, 2020
Hi Jessica, Attaching at the front would be very dangerous. Sometimes the leash mast in their peripheral view makes them nervous at first especially if connected with a harness high on her back. A couple things to try are; Attach lower and forward on the harness or with a martingale style collar like in accessories on our website. If that doesn't work adding a couple inches to the cord may help. The length can be adjusted 2 inches longer or shorter using installation step #3 in the instructions available on www.BikeTowLeash.com.
